What about the other ten counties?

    Are they not important?

Publishing a tiny number for each county will only put the fear of god in all those living in those counties, they'll be afraid to leave their homes.
Do you want to terrorise people? Utterly shameful.

Dr Glynn, "70 cases in last couple of weeks from bars and restaurants in Cork"

Very hard to gauge if that's 70 that got it same night in pubs and restaurants or a handful of people bringing it home from these places and infecting their household. I suppose cause is same source regardless.

    Halloween is the new weddings.

    Yep , cringeworthy.
What does she expect him to say at this stage ?

Dr Glynn, "1 case led to 56 cases". A few people didn't isolate with mild symptoms let to lots of follow on infection.

Is the coverage better on VM 1 than RTE News Now ?
This is awful today , still no slides visible .

70 cases associated with pubs/restaurants out of 350 or so in Cork in the last few weeks

20% of all cases.... Even with the restrictions.
    Not the safest environment.

That one case that led to 56 other people being infected through meeting family, going to sports games etc is horrendous.

Dublin continues to rise despite restrictions, level 5 looks inevitable.

A week into it will have little affect yet.

If there's a ~250 ish today then you can assume the backlog is simply not a backlog and just re-tests

    I guess it’s a bit of both.

A good case study. They really need to put this one up in lights in terms of the impact its had.

That number, which grew bigger with every Chinese whisper, was utter nonsense.

Is that some lobbyist/big man in the food supply industry? Surely the vitners have somebody along those lines whispering into the ears of the government?

Would be great to read some investigative journalism on what's going on there with the food processing plants, but I think that kind of journalism isn't in favour anymore.

Yeah Larry Goodman, the beef baron. Runs the largest beef processing companies.

Simon Coveneys wife is a niece of Larry. IFA wouldnt be pleased either

The reason why I absolutely despise the Indo, newstalk and it’s ilk is there stubborn refusal to hold individuals like LG to account. It’s like they are either afraid due to libel issues or because they are afraid to frighten the bejaysus out of their friends from FG.

Either way, investigative journalism is a thing in a past sadly. Once again our outdated libel laws and vested interests of billionaires and business people, are of far more importance to the political establishment to hold, rather than holding meat barons in meat processing plants and their role in the Covid crisis and press freedom in general.

Sad times for Irish journalism these days and re Covid we will never get that accountability over nursing homes, lack of ppe and poor working conditions for nurses, direct provision, meat plants etc because of all I’ve posted in the above.

Yeh we can say we’re doing well all we like, the 7 day rolling cases per 100,000 show we’re actually not. Whilst our population is small compared to Spain/UK etc so are our healthcare facilities. The tend for us will only be upwards as the winter approaches, time will tell what the impact of that will be on our people and our pockets. I think it’s too late now, lockdowns won’t work, the foundations are laid for this virus to run rampant. We might yet achieve herd immunity before any vaccine.

Yes, as one would expect that the majority of cases would be in a more populated area .
But most Cork people would be in and out of the city for work , shops etc .
