Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Covid Travel - where can Irish residents go and what are the testing/restrictions on

    Now that there will be a new travel policy for the coming period with new EU rules (to be agreed in mid Oct), this thread will be useful for discussing the rules in place on destination countries and practical experienceS

    The current DFA advice is https://www.dfa.ie/ the site lists the green list countries and also indicates where there are restrictions for travellers from Ireland.

    Assuming Germany is added today to the green list to apply from Monday, can anyone explain the regime in place for Irish arriving there? Does it differ between Lander?

    the way Dublin is going (because banning travel but not house parties is the key to low numbers!!!!) it could be on germanys red list within days. I wouldnt book anything yet

    That is my fear. Unfortunately in the next few months people will be given enforced leave. Hopefully they don’t have to stare at the Same four walls During it.

    Ireland would be Orange right now under the EU traffic light system, and refreshingly there are actual empirical criteria unlike the utter sh*tshow of a framework our government published on Tuesday.

    The EU have proposed a Green, Orange and Red list.

    The most important piece: the Commission is proposing that Member States should not restrict free movement of people travelling from another Member State where:

    The total number of newly notified COVID-19 cases in a given area is equal to less than 50 per 100 000 people during a 14-day period, OR,
    The percentage of positive tests from all COVID-19 tests in a given area is less than 3%.

    Green criteria:an area where the total number of newly notified COVID-19 cases is less than 25 during a 14-day period AND the percentage of positive tests from all COVID-19 tests is less than 3%;

    Orange: an area where the total number of newly notified COVID-19 cases is less than 50 during a 14-day period BUT the percentage of positive tests from all COVID-19 tests is 3% or more OR the total number of newly notified COVID-19 cases is between 25 and 150 BUT the percentage of positive tests from all COVID-19 tests is less than 3%;

    Red: an area where the total number of newly notified COVID-19 cases is more than 50 during a 14-day period AND the percentage of positive tests from all COVID-19 tests is 3% or more OR the total number of newly notified COVID-19 cases is more than 150 per 100 000 people during a 14-day period;

    Dublin is now above the Germans limit and likely the Robert Koch institute will block Dublin in its next update.

    German list is managed by healthcare professionals

    Normally that’s Wednesday evening but they don’t hang around so could be as early as the day after Dublin is moved to level 3 as that would raise a flag

    So, the numbers are just out , and for reference Ireland is at 54.7 cases per 100k in the last fortnight

    ON the green list, probably, anyone under 25 :
    Germany 23.7
    Poland 19.0
    Finland 10.7
    Cyprus 6.1
    Latvia 4.2
    Lithuania 17.3
    Liechtenstein 7.8
