Wait I thought it was a fake image made up by those dastardly American Nazis?

The dastardly religious Nazi Americans who are both making AND consuming all the child porn like some kind of freakish redneck ouroboros..those ones?

Its quite clear from the trailer that these children are presented in a wholly inappropriate manner.

Yeah, the people who oppose sexualisation of children are the pedophiles while those who want to indulge it are open-minded is it? Rubbish.

I bit the bullet, watched the trailer and it just seemed to be about kids dancing. No twerking or anything like that. What about it did you find find inappropriate, maybe I missed something?

There was nothing in the trailer. Looked like an interesting film actually. It is the Netflix promotional material - now hastily withdrawn - that undoubtedly pornified kids. But a lot of people on here thought the poster looked fine it seems.

Whoever made that image for Netflix would want to be on a watch list

Can't believe so many here saw nothing wrong with the poster. Or wait, maybe I'm a nazi too?

An American child porn producing nazi to be precise.

Jayziz I'd say they fit right in. Remember it was Netflix that had a drag queen refer to a 10 year old tomboy as a "top" recently and hardly anyone gave a shyte. Mind you this week there were photos of a former US President getting a neck massage from the sex slave of an international sex trafficker and everyone yawned and scrolled on.

Not just that, but the American Nazis are producing all the child porn and then are out protesting it

LOL is that bot replying or can Netflix really not bring itself to condemn paedophilia?

I was thinking maybe some poor misfortune who just copy and paste the company script as even if they said the obviously right thing and said no they'd still get punished for "going off script"

Some places are just stupid in their policies

I mean, I think the cover is bloody disturbing but I can't fathom why people think some random lad sitting in a call centre is able to say anything other than the official script.

It's like the Apple tax fiasco years ago, people calling their customer service team for thoughts on it.

Netflix Apologizes For “Inappropriate” ‘Cuties’ Poster That Was Criticized For Sexualizing Children

So , the issue is with the crappy promo image that someone in Netflix used for the US release , not with the actual Movie , the content of which bears no resemblance to the Promo image.

Netflix have removed the promo image.

It's looked very alike all the cheersquad and gymnastics themed movies where the girls where similar attire (the joy of having preteen kids ) ,

    Much ado about nothing

Much alike the recent car add on social media with a child eating a lollipop that had the mobs screaming child sexploitation

A few years ago In a previous life on boards I said that being a liberal progressive (due to the ever shifting notions of morality) means that you end up having to defend and endorse all manner of depravity and lunacy. I think I was right on that.

    I have witnessed that myself.

Someone so caught up in defending cultural rights (which I mostly agree on) and how we can't judge properly as we don't understand from their perspective...all well and good until this person was suddenly defending cultural practices like raping virgins as a "cure" for HIV in some parts of the world.

Cultures should be respected but barbarism can and should be criticised.

The finger in the mouth of one of the kids on those posters is a bit OTT and hints at a problem.

Lolita, Bugsy Malone, Mini Pops, Little Miss Sunshine. Were you manning the barricade for any of them?

I watched the trailer expecting to be pretty offended (based on that promo picture) but tbh I wasn't, it looked fairly innocent.

I'd be more worried about kid beauty pageants etc which are seriously exploitative and utterly bizarre, there are tonnes of reality programmes in that area weirdly.

I'd agree with all of that...but why is a movie about 11 year old girls rated for adult viewers...that is a little strange!

    I honestly have no idea.
I don't see its rating on the bbfc website which would be my go to tbh.

I did see a film called good boys a while back which was definitely R rated it had 3 kids in the lead.

It is really being torn apart online as in it has 1.4 on imdb, what were Netflix thinking with that poster, I honestly don't think there would be any fuss without it.

I think most of the point of the OP is what were Netflix thinking with that poster. That is the interesting question. A promo poster has to go through loads of people, designers, campaign people, bums on seats in meetings etc. What were all those people at Netflix thinking indeed that 11 year old children striking up those poses was perfectly fine for national release?
And I think one can think those stupid dance shows with lipsticked kids are dreadful and yet still have room in the brain for thinking that Cuties promo material is seedy and weird.

Don't disagree with any of that.

The point I was trying to make was that I think those child beauty pageant/dancing kids are even worse as they feature actual kids real life etc, I wasn't trying to take away from that promo being seedy and weird which it definitely is imo

It's part of the normalisation of pedophilia.

I mean you have the media promoting 'virtuous' pedophiles, and child drag queens. Now this.

Oh dear and only 5 posts in

Image wasn't fake. Netflix just apologised for it.

The original description, if the internet is to be believed, was that the movie was about an 11 year girl exploring her femininity...

Jesus Netflix, that* and the poster were completely unnecessary!

*assuming the description suggested that originally.

Anybody actually seen the film? Not really my thing, unless the child dancers are fighting off an alien invasion, but shouldn't people have seen the film before getting too outraged?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 236 ✭✭Irishman80

    Haven't seen the show myself.

Simple rule for me: If most Paedophiles enjoy this show, then it's likely a show I'll find disturbing at some level.

Defeats the purpose of being outraged
