Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Feels like this one just snuck up on us. The Accuweather hourly forecast doesn't seem to be projecting anything too crazy but Met Eireann are. Orange warning in place from 9pm until noon tomorrow. If you're on this forum you don't need to be told but don't park your car in Salthill tonight!

    Galway Shopping Centre Car-park on the Headford Road was jammers this eve around 7.30pm, it was like Christmas trying to find a Parking spot! But there was no mad queue or anything for Tesco so I don't know where all the Car occupants were!

    Seems like the city got away lightly. The county did too compared to Cork and others.

    Heard there were power outages in Ballygar, Clarinbridge, Kilcolgan and Claregalway. A bunch of trees down. For about 20 minutes or so it did seem like it was packing a good wallop. Must have hit at a good time to avoid flooding.

    It was pretty bad for a while, around 2-3am I woke up and it was giving the house a good rattle. We lost power around that time and didn't get it back until about 10:30. I know of work colleagues who were still without power late this afternoon.

    The county most certainly did not get off lightly, especially the east. At one point this morning all roads out of Eyrecourt were blocked by fallen trees.

    No major flooding that I know of but I’ve never seen so many trees or large branches knocked. Homes in rural area still without power and our water was out last night and only just back in the Ballinasloe area.

    Same thing happened last year (I think it was last year) when we had a storm in early September. The trees are still top heavy with leaves/growth at this time of year, so are more prone to heavy damage.

    I think it was a couple of years ago? Wasn't that when the Swiss lady was killed in Connemara when the caravan\trailer\mobile home she was staying in got blown over the side of the cliff?
