Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Survey of boardsies re Covid job losses:


    How many adults who usually do work paid work live in your house?

    Are they still working as usual? On reduced hours? Not working but still being paid as usual? Not at all.


    I'll go first:

    Two

    One still full-time ( more hours than usual)
    One self employed, getting next to no work at the moment.

    Not related to Galway but sure why not.

    Two, 1 adult working full-time from home. and 1 adult to go back to work once 2 week quarantine is up (required by her work)

    Two working adults usually.

    My partner has been working from home for about a month. Software company. Usual hours.
    I am still going to work as normal (in fact busier). Healthcare professional

    I was hoping to get a feel for work levels in Galway, but sure work level for people reading this forum is fine too. This is gut feel stuff, not science.

    Single occupant in an apartment.
    Officially a "Data Analyst", in reality "The guy who can do SQL queries".
    Working from home, full hours, never been busier.

    I'm the only one still working and doing so from home but doing usual office hours.

    One full-time WFH already for years
    One part-time (same hours) WFH first time.

    Also managing course work for 2 teens is another job in itself.

    I'm working from home, FT. V hard as my work is face to face so big adjustment!
    Partner continues to be the primary carer for our little one in the home.

    Both still working full time, both working from home.

    However, we have a young child and we have no childcare, so working a normal day while keeping a child happy is a challenge to say the least.

    We were also 70% of the way through a new house build and that's stalled which is bringing its own worries.

    I'm out for the last 2 weeks due to being in contact with a carrier at work, getting full pay (thankfully)
    My 20yr old was let go from his job at the end of jan
    My teenage daughter was staying with my ex when i got the call that i had to go into self isolation and i told her to stay there till i got the all clear and now with the lock down, god knows when i'll see her

    I'm wfh full time for a month today, as normal, no reduction option in work.
    Wife normally works from home anyway. She is doing a lot of free gratis work at the minute relating to medical device consultancy - so her revenue is down but work up

    2nd working full time in workplace more hours than usual assisting frontline.

    Work in an agency role in a university so have been off since it closed, but am being paid until the end of the semester as normal thankfully. Will receive my last paycheck in that role next Friday. I currently live with elderly parents, both retired, so am glad I've been able to stay inside except for shopping etc.

    One not working but not related to COVID (training)
    One working more than full time, potentially taking on another job. Line of work is with the tech that a lot of companies use to enable remote working so demand is unprecedented.

    Two person household - 1 working from home, supposedly part time but actually putting in more hours than before (not sure about extra pay for this); 1 3rd level student now at home. No mortgage or rent at home luckily, although not sure what will happen with student’s grant and rent

    Myself, working from home 10% workload 100% pay

    Herself, frontline medical staff working more hours each week.

    17yo has been working since 15, no work at moment, 2 months too young for SW payment, be grand.
