Weather today 15/2/20 so bad that matches can't possibly go ahead, our own course is open atm but will more than likely close very shortly but our opponents want a 4-2 result to call it off, Is the golf world gone mad or is it just certain people..

Where is your own course? Our opponents are mad to play today and said that "even if the course is closed, we will still play the match" :D

Thats called negotiation tell them 3 all and we have a consensus, Bohs and Rovers live on TV, they will jump at that.

We ended up having to play our match against Coollattin even though the course was closed. It was farcical.. worst conditions I've ever played in. Finished 3-3 (all matches played in Coollattin).

Last week we (Wicklow) lost 5-1 to Tulfarris.

I've been saying it for years, the garden county is a great warm up for interclub comp and our club are trying to give as many lads a game as we possibly can to get them familiar with team comps but I think it should start late November/Dec when the weather is generally good and we would all get a head start in matches and there would be no pressure to play matches in attrocious weather like yesterday..We seriously considered pulling out of it altogether as it was a dreadful decision to play yesterday

I believe a certain person in Arklow thought today was perfect to play a match, could it because they won and had no concern for anybody, This the same person who thought it was ok (insisted) to play during storm Denis ...This lad is in cukoo land ..Think it's time to rethink the whole Garden County Trophy and start it in Nov/Dec when weather is generally better than it is in Jan/Feb and it's all pressure to get games played, regardless of course conditions and people's safety, He maybe should consult with his greenkeepers or maybe not !!

Maybe it has run its course??? totally agree this needs 3 games before say Dec 12th, rest in the new year. Weather though always an issue with this comp and the first round of ffical interclubs
