Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Sounds like a security expense we can't particularly afford. Hopefully a bump in tourism will result if we get a sunny day and Galway is being beautiful.

    Are they visiting because Galway 2020 is the European City of Culture?
    & if so didn't they just leave Europe?

    Hadn't heard there was a royal visit due to the republic.
    Do remember walking around Dublin the day before the last one i was aware of and near chaos amid security measures.

    There's visits a few times every year. Charles & Camilla enjoy West cork for example. If there's no official appointments, we'll not hear in the media of the visits.

    I reckon they’re gonna ditch the Royal family just like Harry and Meg did. They’re just looking for somewhere to live before announcing it.
    A friend of a friends best mate told him that they are trying to buy Taffee’s shop ( not the pub, obviously) and convert it to a sort of Palashín!

    Your mate of mate is right - but wrong location.
    They are going to take over McCambridges just down the street from Taffee’s and going to drop the Mc from above the door. It was the cheaper option.

    O'Briens Bridge will be closed
    Flood St/Cross St/Middle St etc, also

    I assume Threadneedle and surrounds also.

    We cannot know for security reasons

    For all public walkabouts, Garda sniper teams will be deployed on rooftops.
    The proposed walkabout in Galway, where the couple will meet local business owners and community leaders, is expected to be the biggest logistical nightmare.
    Gardaí notified city traders that road closures will be in place from 6am to 2pm in Williamsgate Street, Williams Street, Shop Street, High Street, Mainguard Street and Abbeygate Street. Vehicles have been banned from parking in the surrounding area to prevent any potential threats.
    Royal protection officers from the Metropolitan Police will accompany the Cambridges, working in tandem with a team of 12 members of the elite ERU, who will oversee their day-to-day security and are trained in close protection and overseeing security for VIPs.
