Went through all the different panels in the Fitzgibbon cup to see how Leinster players were fairing out numbers wise on the different college teams.

Galway - 63
Dublin - 58
Kilkenny - 46
Wexford - 32
Laois - 8
Offaly - 7
Carlow - 5
Kildare - 4
Westmeath - 4
Meath - 4
Wicklow - 3

I understand Galway and Dublin have more than 1 Uni/IT so they may pick local hurlers to help develop players. Also Carlow has an IT.

It’s not a reflection of how strong a counties 18-24 hurlers are as some lads may work as tradesmen or other jobs not through the college route.

Is there an upper age limit for playing in these third level competitions?
Are there still lads in their mid twenties enrolled in part time mickey mouse courses just so they can play in the Sigerson/Fitzgibbon cups?

Think there was some type of limit put on courses or number of them you could do that sorted out any strokes that were being pulled. Probably couldn't put an age limit on it as some people may only go to college as mature students.

Barry John Keane is playing with IT Tralee I think hes in his late 20's now

Think the max someone can play now is 4 years. Think you can't play if you've done more than two courses as well

What's the story with the square ball rule for those goals.
Is a player allowed in the small square before the ball arrives or are they allowed in the square once the ball has been kicked/hand passed towards the goals?

I’ve no problem with a player pulling up a bit of grass to tee it. Helps a bit but doesn’t make it that easy. Still a savage skill

Good first half for Carlow, couple of early goals helped them stay ahead once UCC settled. They had the use of a fine breeze and should be an interesting second half.
