    YELLOW WIND WARNING

Status Yellow - Wind warning for Ireland

Strong and gusty southwest winds will veer westerly early this afternoon with some severe and damaging gusts; heavy squally spells of rain continuing too.

    Valid: 07:00 Tuesday 10/12/2019 to 16:00 Tuesday 10/12/2019

    Issued: 07:00 Tuesday 10/12/2019
    ________________________________________
Some squally bands of rain crossing the country between now and this afternoon likely to give some very strong winds.

Met Eireann mention ‘Severe and Damaging Gusts’ words that I would only associate with an orange Level warning.

If a squall line forms in the clearance localised severe gusts could result from weakened trees buffetted by Atiyah

Way worse in Galway today than Sunday absolutely lashing rain with very strong winds, my station is showing wind 40 to 55 mph with a recent gust to 59mph, did not reach that on Sunday in an Orange warning if the tide was in Salthill would be seeing waves coming over the prom.

Much worse than Atiyah here now. Building materials blowing down the road

Lahinch is getting battered with wind and swell, high tides at 4ish so it'll be getting a pounding around then.
8ft swell at the moment, so as the tide rises these waves could generate more size as they roll over the reefs

A brief but definite pause in the wind here. And in the rain for a few minutes.. brief indeed but welcome

Be assured all is well here. Stocked up with food and fuel and plenty of knitting work to keep me busy. I could last literally weeks like this. All planned.

In that brief lull, managed to get outside and even pick a few marigolds .

Drumming down again now, and the ground and paths outside are seriously waterlogged and puddled . Safe on the concrete path.

Cat is sitting by the gate and thought I was going to take him a walk, poor lad

Miserable is the best word I would use today.

    Heavy drizzle coming sideways.

A miserable day in Castlebar, a max gust of 80 km/hr and over 15mm of rain so far.

Those living along the west coast might get to see the odd flash later on tonight, and more particularly, overnight, as showery troughs move in off the Atlantic:

Risk would be pretty low however but maybe one or two spots might see something.. maybe.
