Is it possible to change out the radio on a 10 reg Landcruiser to a Bluetooth unit - existing has tape slot (thought they had long gone by then) and CD, no need for either. If there is a straight swop, with microphone, or third party device - and maybe even someone in the West, Mayo, to do it.

Is yours the old 2003 onwards shape or the newer gloopy looking one without the extended wheelarches?

It's the shape that came in about 04 ish, hasn't changed much since, to my eye anyway.

So you have the built in radio as opposed to the plain rectangular one?

Yeah, standard (!) width, about 4 or 5 inch high

    This general idea?

    How much can you spend?

Looks like that - no idea what the price range is, are they available off the shelf, do you supply/fit, or are they available in kit form.
Not actually my wagon, I have been tasked with finding a solution though.

Any double din unit should fit, Halfords do a good range and can fit if necessary.

Great, ta for that, I will have a look - have you any experience of them yourself?

Yes, a bit. They’re easy enough to do, you pull off the vertical silver trims either side of the gear stick, then the silver trims for the air vents/hazard switch, then you’ll see how it’s fixed in.

Best to let Halfords at it if you’re at all worried.

Back in the day, i would have tackled most car jobs, dont want to break/crack any plastic bits, so might get them to do it, 400k km on the wagon and seems to be good for another 400.

You won’t break or scratch anything. Its all hard plastic.

I assume they want a touch screen? Do they want CarPlay or Android Auto (for example to use Spotify and be able to search for tracks through the unit, or to use navigation etc)

These units will obviously have phone call function as well as streaming

Halfords looks like €35 to fit, not sure if that is just a radio or with the mic etc for the phone, but it seems pretty good value at a glance.

You may need a Toyota to ISO loom adapter for it too, depending on what stereo is in there now.

The mic is easy to fit, if it’s irish spec there won’t be any curtain airbags to worry about. Make sure you get a unit with an external mic by the way. Some have it built into the front of the radio.

Some also will take a reversing camera too which might be handy.

Is the loom adapter an off the shelf Halfords item?

Has a farmers reversing sensor fitted so no need for a camera.!
