You forgot Brian Corcoran in your 2nd 15, only named 14:pac:

You're right there, -- I was debating between Brian Corcoran and Jackie Tyrell,--- I'd give the nod to Corcoran, ahead of Lohan, who I did name. The one I forgot was Henry Shefflin in the forwards and on more reflection, I'd probably put DJ Carey ahead of Joe Deane. All goes to show how many great hurlers we have been priveleged to see in action -

I'm going to go with Sylvie Linnane as well I think for both teams. (30 x Sylvie Linnane)

I'd only really got into hurling since the early 90's when I was around 10 or so, and for sustained excellence for a decade or more each, I'll go with these

    Kilkenny

    Eoin Murphy
Willie O'Connor / Noel Hickey / Jackie Tyrrell
Tommy Walsh / Brian Hogan / JJ Delaney
    Derek Lyng / Michael Fennelly
TJ Reid / Henry Shefflin / Eoin Larkin
Eddie Brennan / Richie Power / DJ Carey

    The Rest

    Brendan Cummins
Ollie Canning / Brian Lohan / Wayne Sherlock
Brian Whelehan / Ken McGrath / Paudie Maher
    Brendan Maher / Colin Lynch
Ben O'Connor / Joe Canning / Lar Corbett
Eoin Kelly / Seamus Callanan / Patrick Horgan

I'd give the nod to Kilkenny

My earliest memories would be the mid-90s.

    Wexford:

    Damien Fitzhenry

    Liam Ryan
    Darragh Ryan
    Keith Rossiter

    Larry O'Gorman
    Liam Dunne
    Diarmuid Lyng

    Adrian Fenlon
    Rory McCarthy

    Lee Chin
    Martin Storey
    Larry Murphy

    Rory Jacob
    Paul Codd
    Conor McDonald

Toss up between Jacob and Tom Dempsey, and Colm Kehoe came close to being included in corner-back. In a few years time, I have no doubt Rory O'Connor will be a shoo-in, and Dee O'Keeffe and Damien Reck will be pushing too.

    Rest of Ireland:

    Brendan Cummins

    Ollie Canning
    Brian Lohan
    Jackie Tyrrell

    Tommy Walsh
    Seanie McMahon
    JJ Delaney

    Ken McGrath
    Ciaran Carey

    Henry Shefflin
    Joe Canning
    Eoin Larkin

    John Mullane
    Seamus Callanan
    DJ Carey

Biggest casualties are the Brian's Whelehan and Corcoran in defence, Reid and Eoin Kelly in attack. But tried to be as balanced as possible.

Completely forgot Richie Power. I’ll have to get rid of fast Eddie !!!

Little mention of the best no 6 I think I’ve seen , seanie McMahon ,and I’m a Tipp man

  • Registered Users Posts: 16 johnconnors

I agree with that. There were few to equal McMahon, -- and Sean Stack before him was a good one as well. Tony Keady was a great centre back on a great Galway half back line. Kilkenny's Brian Hogan, a great no 6 too

  • Registered Users Posts: 230 ✭✭Marty Xavier

Sylvie was a good centre back too but never played there.
Vote also for the Godfather and Sargeant Pepper.

    Ollie Baker
    Colin Lynch
    Jamsie
    Peter Duggan
    Tony Kelly
    Ger O'Loughlin
    John Conlon
