Does anyone know any info about the bean used by Ariosa in coffee shops? Their website just says they specialise in single origon but theres a few items on sale in their shop, not sure which one of the three it is or could be something entirely different. The shop on their site lists Sumatra Mandhaling, Kenyan Kiambara and Costa Rica Hermosa.

So....Square Mile, rolling sub. I can cancel anytime, paying monthly.

First order dispatched 7 days ago......no sign yet. Not good. It says on their site that Europe can take up to 9 working days.

Got my last Bailies sub order today, they ship first Wednesday of every month. It arrived today, Wednesday. Fantastic delivery these days but it wasn't always that good. now you get a DPD txt or mail when it's on it's way.

So......I've cancelled my Square Mile coffee sub. without even having received a bag yet. Way too slow. I know it'll arrive any day now but I was left short of coffee for a few days......not good :eek:

Bailies was roasted two days ago. Great stuff.

Ordered from 3FE on Tuesday morning; arrived this morning. Always impressed with the service.

Not sure if it's the right spot for this but - anyone have any tips/feelings on the metal Aeropress filters or, possibly, reusable V60 filters? On the former, is it possible to buy metal Aeropress filter in any bricks and mortar shops (I'm in Cork but all the cafés here seem to just have paper ones) and, on the latter, several reviews of cotton V60 filters have used the term "wet sock" so I'm not too keen! But I tend to fly through the paper ones for both at the moment so alternatives would be worth a look.

Badger and Dodo sell the fellow aeropress filter/bottom, it's not into the filter but a replacement bottom that is supposed to regulate the pressure better. I got on as an Xmas present last year and have been impressed, might be worth looking at

Will have a look - thanks!

Use a metal filter in mine and find them great compared to using the paper. Just slide it off the coffee puck before going for the bin otherwise it could end up inside it. Got 6 of them from Aliexpress for a bargain €5.50 and gave a few to friends.

Mine arrived via DPD today for what it's worth.

Cracked open the Tiger Stripes - still dialing in the the shot, but what I've pulled so far has been really lovely already. Came to £30 in total for 2 kg, which is great value. Only thing is that there's no roast date on the bag. There is an expiry date, which is 02/05/2020, which I'd take to possibly mean that the roast date was a 5 days ago.

There is no free delivery to Ireland with AdamsandRussell anymore.. £10 flat rate shipping for any order .

Well that's a bummer. So glad I received 2kg from them, with free shipping ,earlier in the week.

yep, still ok though. I stocked up. After Oct 31st it will be worse.

They still have free shipping to UK addresses for orders over £30, so I can use ParcelWizard and cut that £10 to £3.52

Crap - just as I've nearly run out too. I guess Parcel Motel option isn't too pricy. My only criticism is that I picked up 6 small bags last time and they were all very similar. Lovely, but similar.

Came across today. Anyone ever used these?

Got a free kilo of beans from them with my new machine. Unopened as yet. The beans that is :)

They seem to be part of the Zero One Zero (Irish Rocket Espresso Machines agents) firm.

I find mine pretty good, but it doesn't make very fine or consistently sized grounds. I don't know if that matters, other afficianados will have to advise on that.

Anyone tried the subscription box from different roasters set up e.g.
    https://beandelivered.ie/

    Or a new one launching

Hmm, a terrible shopping experience (fill out a form and we will tell you what you need) and very high prices (€20 for a 250g bag of beans? They better be magic beans) respectively.

  • Registered Users Posts: 19,610 ✭✭✭✭Muahahaha

Both of those sites just seem to be marketing operations using different roasters to drop ship

The best thing I have found with any of those delivery services is that they alert me to roasters I had never heard of. I follow them on social media, see who is in the next box and then go off and Google or buy myself. You'd buy 2/3 (often more!) bags for the price they charge for one.

Right. I think it's only going to make sense financially when it's roasters on a world class who would be too expensive to ship into Ireland on a single order.

    I noticed a bag on 3fe's site

Colombia - La Esmeralda: Washed, Gesha.

Was 22.50 a bag. seems to be sold out. Just wondering if anyone here tried it and any thoughts?

I think I may have been given it in Gertrude when I asked for filter and was offered a gesha.

It was nice, I wouldn't say it blew my mind but had what you would expect of a gesha coffee - tealike, delicate berry flavours, some citrus burst. Certainly not typical of a Columbian coffee, at least not from what I normally taste, so I might indeed have had something different.

250g, that's about a standard price for coffees on that end. Usually quite a high quality coffee for that price, or you hope at least.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,767 ✭✭✭eljono

I've had a 3fe monthly 250g subscription for almost 3 years, very happy with the quality and variety of coffee. It is a little pricey for the quantity, but the quality makes up for it in my opinion.

Interested to know if anyone else who's had a 3fe subscription have found a better option? Could be better in terms of price/quantity/quality/etc, I'd like to hear what you replaced your 3fe subscription with and why.

That's €89 per Kg! I'd be wanting more like 4 Kg for that price.

Tried a lot, never found anything to beat 3fe tbh

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 3,912 Mod ✭✭✭✭Planet X

Hmmm.........out of subscription atm, got about a month max before I pull the trigger.

3fe "Tasting Subscription" per annum looks very competitive actually, works out @ €10.83/250grs. I might actually go for this having been a Bailies lad since '14.

    Bailies Microlot €9.96/250grs or £108pa.

I don't mind paying an extra few cent if it's as good as.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,439 ✭✭✭caviardreams

3FE looks good value for the tasting sub alright - pity they don't do discount codes like Bailies mind you!

Forgot to mention, been with HasBean/3fe for about 7 years.

Fairly impressive by 3fe, not many companies in any industry maintain that level that long.

    Then again,

    Bailies 2 x 250grs. /pm for 12 months = €197 (Microlot)
    3fe 2 x 250grs./pm for 12 months = €260 (Tasting Sub)

    Hmmmm......
