Has anyone got an idea what the right ball park length I'd need for a 160mm waste pipe (let's say PP pipe) to be used to temper the air temp/humidity in a 36m² garage (flat roof, approx volume 90m³).

I have moist sandy soil and will be laying the pipe 2m below the surface.

I plan to have the inlet 2m above ground level and use a PC fan to drive air through the tube into the garage to ventilate it. The garage will have good insulation and airtightness (timber frame with membrane over rockwool insulation).

We live on the continent so have very harsh winters and fairly hot summers so I want to even out the temp and in summer dehumidify the air using this method.

Please google "Erdwärmetauscher", the German word of what you want to build. By using google translator you should be in the position to understand what is suggested. Out of the blue I´d say you should have layed it completely around your garage before accessing into the garage. And please do not forget a strategy to drain condensation.

Thx. Yeah I have a plan to build a shaft for my well pump anyway and I'll put the lowest point of the tube in there with a u bend and French drain.
