What's in your bag?

I'm assuming this isn't the first of these threads, but I'm bored at work so thought I'd start another. So what's in your bag? For me

    Cobra s-9 driver
    Ping G10 3 & 5 woods
Taylor made R11 4-9 irons, plus pitching, attack and sand wedges
Taylor made monte carlo (or something) putter

Also in my bag - the normal golf paraphernalia. Balls, wet gear, towel, etc. Maybe some chocolate, hand sanitiser and water. And that's it.

Also, what 14th club should I get? I assume I might as well get one, but don't know which. A hybrid I suppose?

There is a thread here alright:

    https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=296463&page=62

couple of years since an update on it though, but might be worth an amalgamation & bump of the original

    Currently:

TM M2 driver, 3w & 5w all with Mitsubishi Tensei Blue shafts.
Ping G 22 degree hybrid, stock stiff shaft.
    Mizuno JPX 850 Forged 5-PW, S300 shafts.
Wedges vary between Vokey SM6 52 & 56 degrees & Mack Daddy 4 52 & 56 degrees, depending on the mood, and currently experimenting with a 60 degree. If the experiment doesn't work, I'll probably add back in a 4 iron and not bother with a lob wedge.
Putter varies between Cameron 009 & Odyssey #7.

Mizuno EZ Driver, pick up from a mate when I cracked the head of my old driver as a stop gap but still using it, 5/6 years old, I use the driver off virtually every par 4/5 tee box, even the odd par 3 if windy
No 3 or 5 wood, too unpredictable
Mizuno EZ 18, 21, 23 degree hybrids with regular flex but I think they are on the border of stiff, I hit them quite low
Well old Ping G15 27 degree hybrid, my lay up club generally
Just the 3 irons, Ping G20 7 (147yards),8 (134 yards) ,9 (119 yards), if not over a bunker then I will always use my 9 iron around the green if running the ball out
Ping G20 Pitching (105 yards) , Gap (95 yards) and Sand Wedge (80 yards)
Vokey 56/12degree Sand Wedge (55 yards), I use this if not using my 9 iron around the green or from a reasonable distance bunker shot, I have a bit of OCD on cleaning these grooves constantly
Vokey Oil Can 64 degree lob wedge, for bunkers right next to flag or lobbing over said bunker
Odyssey O Works 2 ball fang putter, I think I'm a good lag putter and the 2ball really helps with the short line ups

I play good finds mostly and if in any comp it will be a good brand new soft ball as I like control around greens over distance.
I use mid-sized grips and change them myself every 18months or so, Golf Pride Multi Compound

What's the reasoning in the wedge lofts if you don't mind me asking. Just to hit certain numbers?

    Fantastic looking wedges either way

  • Registered Users Posts: 981 ✭✭✭mighty magpie

Only 2 degree between i210 pw and 47 degree wedge. You're a 4 handicap so i assume you're making it work but what is the reason having the 47 and not a bigger gap?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,331 ✭✭✭mike12

I sort of have the same thing, I find the GW from my set which is 50 degrees goes a lot further than my 52 degree wedge.
I changed from 50,54,58 to 50,52, 56 because of it.
    Distances are 118 105 and 90ish.

Dunno really, it's not very scientific with me - more to do with feel.
I don't tend to hit full wedge shots - 3/4 strength would be the max.
Gives me a lot more control/accuracy.
So the 47 degree wedge max's out at around 100 yrds for me.

yes except the irons are de-lofted so the degree gap is wider
The 47 is around 100 yrds for me with the PW carrying around 110
I can get 120 out of the PW but would normally prefer a 3/4 9 iron for 120
I much prefer 3/4 shots with my scoring clubs (8 to wedges).
It's just a style of play I developed over the years.
