In the last 40 majors not including this one. Rory has been top 10 in 19 of them. More than any other player.

That’s what I was getting at. He has as much talent as tiger ever had.

He should have 10 Majors minimum by now

There's a bit of a cross wind there. Not helped that he draws the ball

Leave it out, your relentless negativity does you and this thread a disservice.

Just so frustrated with the guy

The most frustrating thing about this is if he’d holed the easy putts he had earlier in the round for birdies he’d be flying into the weekend no sweat.

Just the shot of his career required here...

Rory has lost his way, that’s a fact. In majors over the last 5 years he has not shown what his capabilities are. I’m not trolling.

Is brooks a better golfer than Rory ability wise? No

Why is it then that Rory fcuks up major after major?

But I’m only a new person here.

He has lost the mental ability to cope under pressure when it matters most

    You clearly are.

A while back the BBC thought the cut might drop to +2. Any chance?

    And that silly 6inch putt

That one-footer on 16 yesterday when he'd completely lost focus will hurt

If you look deeper at them a good chunk have been him coming from out of contention to get a top ten finish, not him challenging to win

That iron shot would have done on the first yesterday.

Yeah because the two are totally comparable.

McIlroy, Matsuyama, Scott, Day, De Chambeau, Woodland, Leishman, Mickelson, Poulter, Cabrera-Bello, Zach Johnson, Bradley, Snedeker and Haotong Li all going home. Feels like a lot more of the well known names than normal I think.

It would need some woeful finishes, just not enough players left out on the course

Don’t mind Rory at all but happy that a player well off the lead won’t be eating up coverage tomorrow on sky

Ah but look at the names in the top 20

What a round that is. He’ll be sick after that messing on 16 yesterday having nearly made it.

To his credit he showed a lot more class on 18 than Clarke who barely acknowledged the crowd or his playing partners.

There are plenty of time is ones left for sure. I just can't remember such a culling of well known players in recent times.

Used to play off 2 in my younger days and watched Rory plenty of times live and the talent was off the radar. I couldn’t believe some of the shots I saw him play but he obviously cannot handle the pressure anymore.

I’d love to see him win more majors but there is something amiss.

I'm one who gives out about coverage from time to time but tbf tomoro he'd have been one of the first out so wouldn't really have eaten into much coverage

    Point stands.

It doesn’t really though, does it? That shot wouldn’t even have made the start of the fairway on 1. So you think he should have layed up short of the fairway?

Yeah fair enough, it is something that annoys me, but as you say not as bad on Sat and Sun

Some effort in the end but by god he will be kicking himself for awhile over those last two days. Never mind yesterday, he certainly had the chances to go 3-5 shots lower today and took a silly bogey on 13 too.

He really needs to get that attitude right of where he is just relaxed and goes out and just attacks a golf course. Pity he didn’t make the weekend but at least we still have Gmac out early and then Shane to roar home for next two days.

No it’s obvious that he didn’t hit the fairway yesterday. In fact he didn’t even hit the course. A ball on the fairway yesterday and he’d still be in the Open.

If he hit the same shot as he hit just now he wouldn’t be on the fairway though, would he? So it was a bit of a silly ‘point’. But sure we all know your feelings about him, so you’re hardly going to be objective about it.

And he might not even be in the open if he drove it 300 up the middle on the first yesterday. Both rounds would play out differently so nobody can say what would have happened.
