Tommy gets to the front and hands one straight back to the course, nothing new there.
Brooks just hanging around close to the top of the leaderboard. As he says himself, 'good things happen when I'm hanging around.'

I really like Brooks, no frills and no BS waffle, a proper pro and man.

Very impressive how he stays so calm when nothing is happening and he misses a few putts he should be holding.

I'm sort of half watching, but not sure Speith has hit a shot from a fairway for a while now. :pac:

The leaderboard given on europeantour.com is not indicating that James Sugrue is an amateur. Does anyone know if this is just an error, or has he actually become a pro?

(I have always been under the impression that the British amateur champ forfeited his right to play in this competition if he turned pro, but perhaps this has changed).

    No, he is still amateur

    David Duval +19.

He won it 18 years ago and there's potentially another 13 years of him being allowed to perpetrate this kind of nonsense.

    why not?
    is he taking anyones spot?

Paul Dunne is a journeyman type fella. Does anyone really give a **** if he is playing a major. He is barely in the top 200.

as a greystones member, I would.

This leaderboard is looking fantastic for the weekend. Obviously will be without Tiger and Rory but plenty more of the big names at the front.

Tiger going quite well today and could actually be making the cut only for a poor bogey on 7.

Journeyman who led the Open into the 4th round as a 22 year old amateur...perhaps you are just stirring though?

Lowry off to a flier, would be great to see Harrington & McDowell making the cut.

Yes, Men who are proud to be irishmen,
Great mentality from Tiger aswell, he never throws in the towel fluffing two foot putts, a real credit to the game

as hes barley inside top 200 he wasnt going to get in if the likes of duval, Lehman, clarke etc pulled out

hopefully pulls it around and starts charging up the rankings soon

Shane playing well but I’d be worried he’ll crumble over the weeekend
    McIlroy must feel totally humiliated.

    Jesus you're insufferable.

For all your obvious dislike of him, you sure do watch a lot of golf through a Rory prism.

Yeah but someone has to be the worst golfer in the field every week, whether by ranking or by performance.

Tiger doing his best but he's left himself too much of a mountain to climb

shane halves the edge of the 4th, tap in par... his putter is on song

you have to admire him though Law ?
Clearly his back his giving him guff, it's cold and wet which doesn't help, but the concentration he shows on every shot, he respects the game and the people that pay to watch him, it's hardly about money for him

I think he needed one more birdie around the 12th or so and he might have pushed on...as it is I think he is just going to run out of holes, but certainly not running out of effort.

Though he just minced one down 14 and looks much freer than he did yesterday and wednesday.
