He's not exactly unknown for meltdowns

however he's not a choker - he's a record most golfers only dream of. When was the last time he was out of the top 10 in the world?

You can be a great golfer and win lots of things and still be a choker. Some sportsmen are brilliant at turning opportunities into wins. Others aren't as good.

You can call it being a choker or not being a good closer or not being ruthless or not mentally strong. But whatever you call it McIlroy has had enough Sunday flops to fit into that category

Look at Faldo and Norman-Norman was probably a better golfer but Faldo was better under pressure.

WRT to McIlroys disappointing form in majors for the last 5 years I cant really understand-like hes not under that much pressure on a Thursday morning at a major(apart from the masters maybe)

i know this is a very odd thing to say . but this actual is a situation that only Rory could grab.

Hmmm i was thinking if he could get to level par by the end of his round he is still in with a shout although the weather forecast for tomorrow afternoon doesn't look great

    opening hole is so easy.

no doubt Rory club selection played a part.

    driving iron ?

It's to be dry and slight wind until Miday day and then moderate rain and gusts of 20 miles per hour for a lot of the afternoon

If someone in the afternoon can shoot a 67 they are putting themselves in a great position with the variable weather between morning and afternoon starters tomorrow

One of the lads is there and said he lost a ball off the tee in practice yesterday and yes, took an iron both times today, a driver of his ability should let it rip, it's a pretty open wide fairway

Weather looks atrocious now. If moisture gets in to the putting surfaces it will be very difficult to judge the pace as they have been dry all week

I wouldn't fancy arriving at the 1st tee box to that. It looks foooking nasty.

Weather awful as usual, I wouldn't put the neighbours cat out in that.

This is an absolute dream for the morning starters. You'd do well to go around level par in conditons like that

It is forecast to fizzle out and stop raining, so late starters may get a break.

the talk of Americans and links is just so dated.

the funny thing is all top players are technically American these days.
