Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    This seems up there with the 221 as the most pointless DB ever conceived. Is there any demand on this route not currently fulfilled by the 53, 151 or the Luas.

    Well, the 151 only handily serves the Point and Docklands Station in one direction, so I suppose it's something.

    Meanwhile DB and NTA delaying 24hr routes for this crap.

    To be fair it will probably only require 1 bus but 1 bus that could be better used elsewhere.

    Indeed capacity isn't the problem. Stinks of parish pump politics unless DB have a compelling business case that we don't know about.

    I don't ever remember hearing any calls for this bus route by councillors or TDs. It seems like a ridiculous idea for a new route just like the 221 which was a 3 minute tour of Ballymun and scrapped after 6 months. This route doesn't even worth the ink to print timetables for it never mind fuel, drivers wages etc. I'd say it will a handy duty for whatever driver gets the honours of doing a round on it.

    Are they actually having a laugh? That is going to be the most pointless route in the city?

    Who comes up with these ideas?

    A nice linking route from Ballymun Road / Griffith Avenue, linking across Griffith Avenue, Swords Road, Malahide Road and loop into Fairview and back up the Howth Road, Copeland Rd and return would be brilliant. Instead we get this hair brained nonsense that will carry nobody.

    If they restored the 53B as a direct link to and from The Point Luas and Stena/Irish Ferries sailings it would be some use.

    Thought that still ran by Morton's not DB as it's a service contracted by Irish Ferries.

    Looks suspiciously like an attempt to find a driver / bus work between peak hour runs using existing resources.

    Won't require any extra buses or drivers in that respect most likely.

    That's exactly what it however doesn't really answer the question about the rational behind the route.

    Is it PSO service?

    This is the most bizarre bus route I've ever seen, what possible rationale is there for running this? Only 5 off-peak services a day, no weekend service. Is it some sort of pensioner special?

    I'd say the only pensioner on it will be the driver.

    Didn't want to start a new topic but saw a 67 with while on black displays instead of usual orange. Presume orange will be phased out?

    They are trailing it on SG471 based in Phibsboro. Weird thing about it is the rear and back displays are the usual orange and only the front is white.

    Why bring out these new routes when the network is to be phased out, starting 18 months from now and we've yet to get a solitary 24 hour route.

    It won't be as near as 18 months likely be 2023 or 2024 now according to the NTA

    Its way clearer but looks a little odd with DB livery but could be me used to been in London.

    Just went past me - did seem slightly different but probably wouldn't have noticed without the mentions here. Looks slightly more readable

    Serving that area is actually not a bad idea, but the bus should go much further than Talbot street. How about making it go to Beaumont Hospital and Castletimmon instead and then cutting the 27B loopyloop route so it can go more directly, for example.
