First time applying for the 2019 competition. How did those who went through the interview process find things last year? Thanks

Last year we were shortlisted on a full competency form. This year it seems different. It was quick last year, shortlisting and then one interview

Any update on the audit panel publicben?

I was 42 overall, up to 9th for dublin only two weeks. Was 6th on policy panel two weeks ago for Dublin. Got it from policy panel. I presume that means all of us that policy panel this week will be off the audit panel

That’s great that you got it PublicBen. Fingers crossed it will continue to move. Are you being placed in a policy/rls type position

Wasnt told yet where I’m going. I’m off on leave and was shouting at two kids to stop fighting when I got the call. She said she’d send me an email with details etc.

Good luck with it, it’s great that your wait is over.

Anyone know how look it takes to hear back on whether you're successful for the next stage or not?

I checked last year and it was about 3 weeks. But then, that was full forms to review so it may have been a slower process.

I agree. I dont see how they can do much, if any, shortlisting on this year's forms. My guess is that we will hear something next week about stage 2

I’m thinking an aptitude test maybe on the cards! Very hard short list by a candidates 500 word piece

Basing it on the email referring to being in touch with further information, I think information specific to the next step is forthcoming and I’m inclined to think it will be a full form.

I agree. I remember the short listing last year was fairly ruthless. People not meeting the basic criteria that they set, namely having at least 3 years at HEO or equivalent experience in private sector. I kinda got the feeling anyone at EO level may not get opportunity for interview. That's the impression I got anyway.

I think they'll be looking for the 300 words to hit each competency mentioned in the traditional form.

But if numbers are big, aptitude tests may come into play. I just dont know though if the numbers would be that big? Maybe 250-300 applicants? Culled to 120 for interview.

Im an EO currently sitting on AO panel! I just threw my name in with no big expectations.. i have outside experience too! I do kno EOs that have gone straight to AP .. so i suppose it depends on experience and form

They definitely have! I just found with last year's process that there was a requirement for 3 years management experience at HEO level or something equivalent. All down to experience for sure and how management skills were portrayed on the form. Basically, it's down to how well you sell yourself and making sure that you do yourself justice.

    Best of luck with it!

I'm hoping that the whole process will be quick really. I don't like living in hope for too long.

Did everyone that applied get the online interview?

I would assume so. Shortlisting based on what was a very basic web application form would have been very unfair in my opinion

Can you read out the answers or what? All very odd

I understand (anecdotally) that not everyone was called. Not sure what proportion were cut though.

Perhaps some people put in "Joe Bloggs - university of life" just to see if they were able to download application form. Like I was thinking of doing !

I know 3 people going forward, all serving Revenue staff.

One EO, a qualified accountant, not AITI.
One HEO (actually the EO’s line manager!) also an accountant (chartered), not AITI.
One AP, chartered accountant and AITI.
