3 shippes and The Munster will have it on if it's that part of town you're in.

Probably should get rid of plenty of these players. and in backs get higher quality replacements from the considerable chunk that would be taken off wage bill with those gone

The RWC will play a part in keeping some players on for another year, if it's deemed the academy players in their position aren't ready to step up. I'd put Sherry, Parker, Williams and Fitzgerald (if he doesn't remain in Galway) in that category. SOC might get a contract to cover lock and blindside. Bleyendaal's situation is tricky. I'm sure he commands a very good salary after he signed his last deal while the undisputed starter, but Munster have moved on from him with Carbery.

RWC will have to play a role in keeping some on but i think you have to risk/trust academy players at some stage and a world cup is perfect time for many of them to be tried at the higher level.
SOC might get something to cover 4/5/6 but im still unsure of him in long term...

We will have more than enough talent in the back three left over during the World Cup to let Fitz go; Haley, Wootton, Sweetnam, Coombes, Daly and Nash. The likes of Coombes and Daly who clearly have talent should be given a chance during the WC.

It'll be an interesting one. JJ and Bill Johnston perfectly capable options during the RWC, but an injury to one of those and you're probably relying on Scannell filling in. That might be deemed enough cover for the RWC period.

Probably but if Ben Healy can progress as a second year academy player would/should be fine for bench cover for some games as well

Looks like 2 wins is our only chance of getting for the QFs

Finishing 2nd far from guarantees us a QF place with a few teams in better position than us

9 points is what we need and extremely doable

If Munster don't win the group they're competing with Ulster, Toulouse and Glasgow.

Castres will probably lose to Exter this weekend, they'll be out. And I think Munster will beat Exeter at home. So Exeter will be out no matter what happens this weekend with Gloucester.

So if Gloucester win this Friday they'll probably win the group leaving Munster with the runner ups I just mentioned.

There is no way Toulouse don't get one of them. So it's three teams including Munster for the other spot.

If Ulster lose against Racing they're probably done and winning in Welford Road will be tough with Tigers back on form.

Glasgow will probably win this week against Cardiff but they have a tough one away to Sarries.

Basically, if Munster lose on Friday I can see them being utterly reliant on a Sarries win next week to get through.

    Sorry, ignore all of this.

I forgot three runner ups go through.

Munster should be fine even if they lose one game as long as the chips fall in a fairly straightforward way.

Going to say something controversial...Is goggin a more dynamic option at 12 that scannell? Is the scannell being limited by the game plan?

Scannell is being used as a battering ramp or a dummy runner. He doesn't seem to pass a huge amount. I will admit i don't have the best understanding of back play, being a former hooker & no.6(the Serge betson style, sent more time in the bin than the pitch)

I thought I was the only one that noticed this! He's blown loads of opportunities by not passing!! Goggin is indeed a much better 12 from what I've seen of him.

Munster have 12 points to Castres 9 and 8 each for Gloucester and Exeter. A LBP and any win against Exeter would win Munster the group as 5th seeds as long as Castres didn't manage to win both their games.

I'd much prefer two wins though.

It's a nice situation to be in but Munster will win this weekend. Glaws are very average and have an injury crisis, they will fold like a broken ironing board with a fat guy sitting on it.

Exeter will know that a runner up QF spot is beyond them and send a second string to Thomond. A BP win for Munster will seal a home QF probably as 4th seed.

Assuming Toulon beat Edinburgh this week, Munster will most likely host Edinburgh in the QFs and stroll through to the semis. Anything is possible from there.

    You heard it here first.

Can't wait for this game, think Munster have enough and are the better side and Gloucester aren't firing on all cylinders currently.

It's some group though - anyone can still top it despite Munster being in the driving seat. Really not what I would have predicted but it's going to be a fascinating final two weeks.

Will be cheering on from my sofa and will steer towards our Southern Craft providers for whatever tipple I pick up on the way home !

Have you seen Toulon lately? 4th from bottom of the Top 14, no hope of making the knockouts of the HEC, I doubt they’ll worry too much about the Edinburgh game.

I see the Indo are reporting that Dave O'C is wanted by Biarritz.

Quote from that article “Beirne supremacy adds to potent Munster mix”, about Munster’s second row and back row, last few lines:
“Meanwhile, Biarritz are interested in signing Munster back-row Dave O'Callaghan.

The 28-year old is out of contract at the end of the season and the French side, who are currently eighth in the PRO D2 table, are hoping to sign him.”

That’s good news, he is a quality player but always has been getting injured and was stuck behind O’Mahony.
Would like to see him get a decent run.

And the sportsjoe.ie article about Keatley and Taute says that Williams is also expected to leave in the summer

Yeah, they're rubbish - but still, they have a home game in front of their home crowd against Edinburgh. I'd expect them to show up for this one and then not give a toss about the following week's trip to Newcastle.

But if Edinburgh win, and everything else goes as predicted, then Munster will have a QF trip to Murrayfield, which is the kindest away QF you could ask for.

Is there any news on Chris Farrell's knee injury or results from his scan earlier in the week.

Hopefully it's not that serious and he is back soon. A massive loss to Munster
