Scorn just launched another kick-starter campaign. It is only going to lauch for PC in Oct 2018 but I wrote to them whether it will get a Xbox launch, so will let people know what they reply with. (Can't attached a ,link as I am a new user)

In other news, a similar game, Agony will now get a physical release and it seems the game will also now have multiple endings (seven in total).

Anybody else excited about these games? Not everyones cup of tea but both look incredible from an art design point of view and will probably be quite freaky.

Review scores for Agony seem to be all over the place... first three reviews i saw gave it an 8, 6 and 4 respectively. The gameplay videos iv'e seen show it as a dark, blurry textured mess, as if it was made a decade ago, nothing like the screenshots.

Kickstarter backers are kicking up a real fuss because they say that the developer bowed to pressure to remove the most extreme scenes and therefore the final product essentially isn't the game they backed, as a result they are giving the devs extremely negative reviews. Seriously, the Agony forum on Steam is being moderated really hard due to all the negativity so they've taken it to the Steam off topic forum, some of the things they are saying about the devs are pretty awful.

Storm in a teacup imo, they have removed or obscured only several seconds of footage that affects 2 of the possible endings as far as I can see (open to correction)

Regular purchasers are giving generally favorable reviews hence the aggregate mixed score (although everyone seems to agree that level design is a bit frustrating)

I think the devs are getting a harsh deal. The story goes that they signed to a publisher to get the game over the line and this publisher demanded some scenes were toned down in order to get the game a PEGI rating. I don't know how true this is. The devs also said they would release an AO (Adult Only) patch to restore the scenes but have now said that due to legal reasons they cannot do this.

It's not often I'd say this about anything in a game, but.... wow.

What kind of sick ****s want to play a game like that ?

  • Graphic purely for the sake of it in the hope it adds to sales is my only reasoning for it. Can't imagine any context in which that could be argued was important to the plot.

I can see the argument for it in the context of the game, it really is one messed up nightmare rollercoaster, literally, into the depths of Hell.

There's never been a game quite like this, so it is very unique and I'd be more inclined to give it a pass for some of it's depravity as it is somewhat contextual.

I've watched a lot of it being played and it really puts chills down your spine in a deeply unsettling manner - terrifying stuff that makes the likes of Resident Evil and Silent Hill look like children's games.

And I also absolutely understand why the publisher would say to the developers 'You have to remove X and Y or else we're pulling our support'.

What's really pathetic to me is that the Steam forum is full of people moaning that the game isn't worth playing because of 'extreme censorship'.

The game is still a 6 hour hellish nightmare full of disgusting, haunting depravity far beyond it's closest rivals.

Madmind studios have released an uncensored version of Agony which restores all of the content originally cut from the game upon it's release.

It's a separate title on Steam called Agony Unrated

    Teenage Edgelord - the game

I really like seeing what people would depict as hell however it looks too linear to be worth buying as a game. Could probably get enough of the experience from a no-commentary playthrough. Good there's an uncensored version for those who wish for that.
Can't imagine any context in which that could be argued was important to the plot.

I'm not too familiar with the plot but I've heard this same statement being said by people for any sex content in any medium. It's a psychological horror or something I think... so disturbing sex and birthing imagery hit pretty hard for the human mind. Silent Hill 2 & 3 knew this all too well. I just re-watched a movie called Enemy and my friend was upset by the amount of nudity & sex. I told her it wasn't that much and it was all actually pretty vital to the story as a psychological thriller. As a muslim she tends to think any amount of skin on screen is for pornographic reasons than artistic, though.

Ebb studio sent out a kickstarter email last week for the first time in over a year basically scolding the backers for harassing them for updates followed up by an email the next day and today quickly retracting it

someone obviously got a bollocking for sending out the first one

To quote the offending email;  "a bit of friendly advice: If lack of communication is so bothersome just ask for a refund and be done with it. It's just a game. You can play it when it's out if you are still interested." 😅
