We did this on a different sub-forum where there were a lot of regular posters. Basically someone is nominated and posters ask them questions for the week. At the end of the week that person nominates the next person by starting a new thread for that person.
Decided on SlickRic as he’s a moderator here.

Similarly if you decide to participate, you always have the option not to answer any questions you don't feel comfortable about answering on a public forum.

I didn’t consult him, apologies SR I should have. I chose him because he’s a mod and who better to start. He always has the choice to ignore.
I’m saying it’s “he” because this is predominantly a sub-forum of middle aged men (33 and above is middle age apparently)

Incase somebody gets nominated that doesn't want to do it perhaps we compile a list of everyone who wants to or who doesn't mind?

I’d say a better option is for the current to PM their choice and make sure they’re happy to do it

I think Shano's suggestion is better. Have a list of names down before ye start to avoid confusion.

Ric has the rare distinction of being highly respected by all on the soccer forum. His posts in the Man Utd thread usually get thanked by loads of Utd fans!

And he granted me access to the soccer forum years ago too.

Do you regret ever starting playing fantasy football?
Do you find it brings you more joy or more frustration/anger?
Has it had a negative effect on your enjoyment of the premier league as a fan/spectator?

1. I'm a Mod in Soccer, not here. And I became mod after I was asked. I've no idea why I was asked, other than I probably seemed the gullible type.

2. I've only been playing around 7 or 8 years, which rules out the likes of Ronaldo and Henry.

Kun is number 1 for sheer consistency over the years. As reliable as they've ever come.

Suarez in his 13/14 season. Easiest captain choice in history.

RVP. The year I was lucky enough to come top 250 OR he was ridiculous.

Kane in his first season. 5.0 or something. Remember getting him in time for his free kick winner against Villa. Never looked back.

Have loved having David Silva through the years. More valuable before mids starting scoring like forwards. Always good for consistent 6-10 pointers. A comfort blanket.

FPL Forum isn't tribal, which is a nice change of gears. Love the Soccer Forum as I love talking football, but it can be exhausting.

2. Huge wrestling fan. When I signed up to boards, it was to talk pro wrestling. And sure, you needed 50 posts before you could apply for access to Soccer. 'Slick Ric' is the nickname for Ric Flair, one of the greatest and best known wrestlers.

I'm a competitive person. I like to do well when I play games, so with that comes getting frustrated and ridiculously happy. I've calmed through the years though - it is just a game.

I think it's helped my enjoyment of watching games. I'd never give a toss about Huddersfield/West Ham, other than I've two players in it today.

Even Liverpool games, who I follow. I never shout against them, Even if I've 3 City players again at them. I can separate fandom and the FPL game. As long as you can do that, you're fine.

1. Probably Sting. Or if you count any of the rugby lads like Brian O'Driscoll or Paul O'Connell. And the Top Gear lads.

2. I was a child. They played in red. I liked red. And they were the first red team I saw. And that was it!

3. I remember bits of Rush. He was the first player I remember loving. The first match I properly remember is the Liverpool 3-3 United, where United went 3-0 up in the game Grobbelaar was accused of throwing, and we equalised late when Ruddock nearly knocked himself out.

4. I got to a rank of 8 OR during a season where I ended with a rank of 230ish.

To get an exceedingly high rank, a good start is so important. More important than is given credit for IMO.

And from there, it's about patience IMO. That's awfully cliché, but don't sacrifice potential season keepers easily. If Hazard goes dry for a couple of games, don't sell unless he's all of a sudden playing DM.

If I get a stuttery start, take hits or WC as early as possible. Get the team right. The hallmark of any successful manager is to correctly identify the necessary players and get that spine set. If you get that right, 100k OR should be gettable without much of an issue.

The worst season i had recently was the Leicester one. Didn't get on Mahrez quickly enough, or off Chelsea quickly enough. Never really got on Vardy. I just didn't believe it would continue, and so really struggled.

A couple of friends know I use boards. I only mention it if it comes up. I don't keep it private purposely - it just doesn't really ever come up.

My worst season by some distance (outside 1m) was last and all because I didn’t believe in Salah, it could have been Jan before I got him in. Down the points and about 1.5m

1. This forum is my main research. Then just a variety of Twitter accounts - too many to name. My philosophy is more info the better. Then make your own decision. I've also used the Jay Eggersdorff YouTube weekly this week. It all just gets you thinking. All you can do is consider each viable option.

In terms of tactics, again, it's just seeing enough data that you know the advantages and pitfalls to every strategy. I like having consistent big attacking hitters (Salah, Hazard, Aguero), so I decided against 3 expensive defenders. It means I've missed a Robertson haul today, but I didn't have Mané who i'd have captained. I Swings and roundabouts.

I do like having one guy who is not necessarily explosive, but is consistent. D Silva is one of my favourites for that reason. Underrated as an asset, and to be fair, his essentialness has dwindled slightly now so many mids are free scoring.

2. The ones I prioritise scouting are mid and cheap priced forwards and mids. They're all about timing, patience and their team's form, because by the nature of their price, they're inconsistent. I've had Jimenez for 6 weeks. 3 of those were blanks. Then he hits 12.

Patience with lower priced players is tricky, but one of my biggest ongoing lessons.

But if you're getting mad at Peter Casey for articulating something that many feel, and wasn't actually as shocking as many made out, then you're mad at the wrong person. the reaction to him was virtue signalling at its finest, and he reaped the benefits. i don't think it was even a tactic on his part. he's not a genius. he just lucked out because there was no challenge to the Presidency apart from him, and people are sick of being told things are great when they're really not.

Obviously self righteous, but people get too wound up about him. it's none of my business what he does with his money, and the obsession with his finances is laughable. yes, he should pay his tax. but meh.

Paul Murphy

Not as smart as he thinks he is. as ever, socialism brings interesting ideas, but in practice, doesn't work.

I also don't believe he, or any of his ilk, actually want to govern anything.

Donald Trump

Again, if you're getting mad at Trump, you're getting mad at the wrong thing. he's the worst of people, with no regard for anyone other than himself, but he hasn't brought about this division. he's merely made it clearer. it's always been there.

this generation is suffering because nobody debates ideas anymore. people just shout at each other, and whoever is loudest wins. and he personifies that. but he's not the problem. the idea that he is is moronic.
