For those wondering, here's one snippet from the presser. Truly bizarre that a US president would behave like this

At one point there, I thought he was actually going to get down off the dais and physically attack the CNN reporter.

Very dignified. Very presidential. The founding fathers would be so proud.

Why do his advisers let him do stuff like this, is it that they just can't stop him or is it really that it doesn't affect his support. Surely a fair minded person has to look at this and think "errrrr?"
Because he's a fascist demagogue who works on the basis of physical intimidation and power of charisma that the worst fascist dictators tend to have, and yes, I am referring to that fascist dictator, the Austrian chap with the moustache.

It's the same reason why the press corps act like doormats in his presence - because they're utterly cowed and likely physically shaking in his presence.

Everything Trump does is designed to physically intimidate.

    He's an absolute thug.

Trump seems highly unhinged by the loss. At the end of the clip he shows the art of the deal. "We offer the tax cuts to the Democrats if they say yes good else nothing can be done" lmao

Do you think the 'sniffing' thing that he also did during the debates with HRC is part of the intimidation? I heard it again during the presser, deep nasal breaths.

Plus the fecker never once looks happy. Not once. Grimacing, scowling, looking pained in his ill-fitting suit, and having difficulty walking down the few stairs to the podium. What's with the raccoon eyes and the orange skin? Is there a tanning bed on Air Force 1?

So much to digest here, he was all over the place and I'm sure the 'Trump lie-o-meters' are pegged to the top. Thousands of MS-13 removed? Suuuuure.

Glad one of the reporter's mentioned Jon Tester winning. Be great if AZ went with the Democratic candidate, too. Lots of early ballots to be counted there, might bode well for the Democratic party.

The man does not look well, not that he ever does, but he looks even worse than usual.

Also accuses a black reporter of asking 'a racist question', simply for inquiring about his comments about being 'nationalist' emboldening white nationalists. I mean, even if you / he didn't think it was true that he stirred the pot - how was it racist on the part of the reporter? The indignant act kinda suggests he didn't even hear the question.

Wish she pulled him up on his claim about having 'the highest poll numbers' among African Americans, because I'm fairly sure that's nonsense.

I've read posts on After Hours with more class, dignity and decorum than this President.

How the hell was that question even remotely racist???

I see the republican voters are out in for e rioting , looting , smashing windows and doing all the things that the democrats did when trump won, ohh wait...

Yep. Where are the posters saying how much of a win it was for the Reps?

Is this the way he behaves when he wins, jesus! I'd hate to see the way he behaves when he loses lol

And as for this threat to investigate the dems If they investigate him?

Shouldn't the ruling party investigate ANY wrongdoing? Isn't that what f'n oversight means? Heaven forbid any irregularities be checked into!?

I sincerely hope Nunes, Jordan, Gowdy and Neilsen get grilled. And that's just for starters. Can't wait until Jan for that.

For now, Mr. Mueller, if you wouldn't mind please, a couple of indictments to whet our appetite!

Elect a clown... Expect a circus

Maybe that's a little churlish given the pipe bombs sent by the loon that took his lead from Trump eh?

Trump is using a poll from Rasmussen Research that puts his approval rating among blacks at 35% (and their latest poll appeared just as Trump was declaring the black population never had it so good) - Rasmussen are widely regarded as distorting their polls in a pro-Trump direction.

    Of course it was.

Trump's whole schtick is to appeal to people's inner bully. You can't successfully promote a fascistic, cult-like mob mentality in your followers without projecting yourself as an all powerful, infallible, omnipotent leader yourself.

    That's how fascism works.

The intimidation, the interruptions, the constant lies, the constant personal attacks, the projection, the pre-emptive, barefaced lying to turn around the worst things he's guilty of onto his opponents, the making others doubt themselves due to the constant lies and intimidation, the attempts to make others fall into a trap of hopelessness where they start to think that resistance is futile and they fall silent.

He uses exactly the same techniques Hitler and Stalin did to cow people down.

"The best lack all conviction, while the worst are full of passsionate intensity."

Eric has bought into the bullsh*t that everyone who isn't a Trumper is a terrorist.

Of course this ignores the fact that a Trumper sent bombs to a several people a couple of weeks ago - and a White Nationalist shot up a Synagogue and another in Kentucky who attempted to get into a black church and after he was prevented killed two black customers in a supermarket.

From Eric's perspective Trump never engages in hate speech and none of these attacks are remotely connected with Trump's antics.

Genuine question: So do you follow the policies of the loony left like AAA/PBP, SF et al with the likes of higher taxes on earnings of over €100k?

It always happens every US election time.

People on here and elsewhere in Ireland bemoaning the fact that the US is not more socially democratic and more northern European in it's policy and outlook.

This coming from Ireland where we twice in the last 20 years re-electeda corrupt PM because he and his government slashed taxes, failed to re-elect a government that had to take tough measures to fix the problems, gave a complete unknown over 20% in a foregone conclusion of an election because he had the balls to speak out about spongers in our society and, back in 2004, voted by 80% to remove birth right citizenship.

Mary Harney was right when she said we were closer to Boston than Berlin.

Just based on that Acosta clip alone, could you imagine what he'd be like in front of Mueller questioning him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,331 ✭✭✭✭Rjd2

Acosta is a partisan hack and Trump's flaws have been well discussed. I did feel sorry for the poor girl who got involved in what was a dick waving contest though.:(

I knoww its their raison d'etre and everything, but why are the press taking this lying down? Why don't they just not bother turning up to his press conferences (and the press secretary's too) leaving him to his cronies and cheerleaders? Because these press conferences aren't fulfilling any function like dissemination of information.

You could say they further highlight his megalomania but we already know this.

Ireland also voted for same-sex marriage and to repeal the 8th and provide abortion services for women facing a crisis pregnancy.

Like in the US - Ireland has it small cohort of neo-liberal free-marketeers, anti-traveller racists, xenophobes, homophobes and anti-abortion fundamentalists. Fortunately all attempts to date to bring this together in a coherent political formation have failed (Renua) and Casey (the tax exile, corruption loving, multi-millionaire) will go the same route if he attempts anything.

He doesn't have to be a buffer anymore.

Trump seems like he is actually trying to convince people he's happy dems have congress because they can get more done.

Being replaced by his chief of staff: Matthew Whittaker

Things are starting to happen. I suspect this is an attempt to head Mueller off at the pass.

Everybody seems to have forgotten his completely batsh1t answer about why his tax returns cant be released from the start of the press conference:

The midterms will be old news fast. Interesting to see what Mueller's crowd do next.
