A new venue and new format for 2018. No information on who will be there on the website but it's likely to be missing some of the Mayo heads will miss it as there is a festival in Ballina that same weekend.

A pop up tent in the cricket pitch Rathmines in late September??

    No thanks!

I didn't see what was wrong with the RDS, perfectly fine venue, loads of room to move around and get to all the stands, and had good facilities too, I guess now you have to go in the bushes...

And this is from someone who's been to this beer fest since it started...

Didn't see that, but yea I agree, the organisers must be losing the run of themselves...

Except if they tell you they don't want to host your beer festival any more you can't have it there.

Had to be a reason I guess!

Too bad it's gone from there, won't be the same in a tent with a small number of brewers attending..

Strange decision after many years, some with two outings a year. I'll never get to use those left over RDS branded tokens from last year then!

I wonder about that. Someone I know contacted the RDS about having a beer festival there a few years back... they answer was "we already have two, we don't want a third"

    And now they have none.

If I was a skeptic, I'd say dwindling breweries and dwindling crowds was the real reason, now that Alltech seems to be the top dog when it comes to beer festivals in Dublin.

I did find the RDS festival go a little down hill over recent years.

Will they have proper, non plastic glasses, thats what I want to know.

O'Hara's have been advertising metal festival glasses on Twitter this summer so I'd guess that's what will be handed out.

I bet there are boxes and boxes of the polycarbonate ones left over from last year and that's what they'll use.

They’ve confirmed that they’re plastic cups. List looks a bit underwhelming too.

So how was it? Any use, did anyone attend, or is this event likely to die off in the next year or so?

I was there on the Saturday night, fleetingly.

Worked well as a venue (for me!) in that it felt more like a festival. I always found the RDS a bit staid, but having it in a big tent (with decent music) added to a better vibe.
