    Was Jake a noob or a pro ? :)

And who was he pretending to be ? Because I read the signup thread looking for people who were saying it was their first game :)

The split was very interesting from a psychological perspective. There were a few people saying (and I'd bet a lot more thinking) that they felt an unusual loyalty to their island-mates once everyone was reunited, even those island-mates that they were suspicious of in the first place. It reminded me of the Robber's Cave Study. We're, at heart, a very tribal animal.

Was saying to Pter privately that a LOST theme would be perfect for another split game. I'd agree with duffman etc. that I think it would work better on COP.

Have a few other thoughts but typically, got busy at work as game concluded and hasn't let up since. Free this evening will post a few post-game bits and bobs though. :)

Jake was Jack Moore. His first game here anyways I believe.

Well done Barney! Great performance to pull that off

Mods thanks for this game, it was brilliant. My only complaint is I died so early after freeing up space in RL for it (grrr Fiona)

Split worked really well. The absolute lack of any usable info for the village made the early game seriously difficult.

Wolves didn’t catch a break tbh. Numbers on the islands felt right and balanced but everything went wrong for them. A couple of slightly different events would have led to a very different game.

Tbh you guys really caught nothing early game, at 8.30 on night of the first lynch I thought it was a wolf win, seer and priest were gone. Late votes lost a wolf, reaction to that lost another wolf. That was the swing, if you had off got back to the main island with two wolves intact it would have been a very different game especially with the powers you would have had to play with.

Edit: Also to point out to future mods, the split is great for players but way more difficult to mod and follow. Two threads is a little tiresome, two lynches and munches etc. Maybe stagger them a little if your toying with the idea

I’ve run games on ms and mu and while I haven’t played for a few years I’m no more a n00b than you. Pretended to be for the advantage tho, all fair in ww.

Yeah that's exactly it. It was breaking my heart at the end when it turned out we'd be executing Taco Islanders one by one.

I've about 200 long games played myself across 2+2, mu and another forum and I've modded over 20 games :)

But I did say that I was experienced in my sign up :P

Anonymous game - you were absolutely dead right to try something :D

I know, well done Jack and Rikand, they took to it like ducks to water which they had been swimming in all their lives!

Jack and Flushy made a hoor of me in this game. I went to bat for Flushy on the 'Alan/Ewan' thing, and for Jack to defend his noobiness.

Jack going around talking about 'soft-claiming' and I'm there defending him. :pac: Yep, whatever shít I was smoking that night was worse than what Derry was on the night of the full stops = bad teams. :D

Ah jaysus that was you Keith?? I still haven't got a chance to check the backroom yet and analyse the aftermath and see who was who.

That thing with the fullstops was brilliant. I have about 5 different levels of 'How??' to ask you, but maybe the mystery of it is part of the 'wow'.

It was highly entertaining, and not a bad theory in itself.

I had you and Isla on my list, and then I got transported to Sorna and all was forgotten.

Oh well, just a little over 3 weeks until you get to unleash some more oddities.

Hope me, QB and Necro don't either.

Just have to make a few last minute tweaks, steal a few things from this game, then we're good to go ðŸ˜

just mod-kill pter, tb or duffman for something that is not their fault and i'll be happy.
qb, hope to see u on the 10th, thanks for saving the game on N0 and getting no praise, u are an honest player and some recognise that more than others.

so did i, but it came to nothing, 3:3:1 was not a distribution that added anything to the game..

A mistake was made and we made a decision on it. Jesus you sound bitter here for some reason skeith. I don't understand why since the whole thing didn't affect you at all in any way.

And actually I think you will find I didn't praise QB here and in the brs.

Who exactly are you jabbing here with your veiled insult?

Aw, Keith, thanks for the sentiments. I like to think of myself as honest, and usually I am. But here I made a bad judgement call.

I shouldn't have shared the list with my teammates (I did). I shouldn't have quietly kept the list to myself and subtly steered my teammates to certain kills (I didn't). So maybe at least those two cancel each other out and I come out close to even on the honesty scale here.

I should have quietly told the mods I had the list, let them do a rejig and we all could have gotten on with things, and everyone would be happy. But, hindsight isn't much good after the fact. I hold no grudges to the mods for the decisions they made in regard to my poor judgement call.

See you on the 10th! :)

Just to add my thoughts was a full re rand of just the anon accounts (Not roles) considered? Look, mods made a decision at the end of the day and it is what it is, I'm not going to argue with your call at all.

Easy to say in hindsight of course but imo, a re rand of all anon accounts would have been a good option and removed that issue entirely. Would have avoided any modkills that early at least.

Again, easy for me to say that nearly a week after it happened :pac:

We talked about re randing everything but with so many secrets in place it would have changed the game. Suddenly people who were wolves might now be villagers and lnow the exact roles in play (mostly).

We talked about reranding everyone but the wolves but this was about 9pm on Sunday with us preparing the split, which was logistically a lot of planning in itself. We figured there was as much impact in telling everyone we reranded as actually doing it.

So basically we told everyone there was a rerand but there wasn't one. Wolves dropped going down the list and thankfully it seemed to work out.

The decision to remove QB from the game was because a game break was exploited without consultation with the mods. I respect QB hugely and trust her, but imo she made a bad call this time around. We have to treat all game breaks the same, no matter who does them. If it were anyone else who had done an action that could have broken the game, the decision would have had to be the same; to make sure people are coming to mods before they exploit a game break.

We consulted with QB throughout out decision and I'd make the same call again on principle. I wish we hadn't made the mistake in the first place, but mod mistakes happen and we did what we thought was best to keep the game going and stop any further attempts at pushing the rules to the point the game might be forfeit.

I also reject the idea that the mods don't believe QB is an honest person or player, if that is an accusation being inferred by you, skeith.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,024 ✭✭✭✭Baggly

Necro we didn't re rand the anon accounts simply due to timing. I don't think you can pull off a 26 account shuffle on a Sunday night ahead of a village split at 10am.

Fair enough, as I said it's easy for me to say these things in hindsight.

This discussion changed since the last time I checked in ha

Riona Mother f@cking Jackson saying that was a lot of fun mods, gg all. Great Game Brendan, might not be team village but we know the real winners Team Taco!

The split of the islands was a lot of fun even though I did not know what to expect being on the same island as detectives Necro & Joe
