Problem is with Facebook app itself, just read about it online. Happening only on android apparently after an update

Was thinking of leaving it off. Does it have oleophobic coating on the screen?

Sorry just seen this. I'm not too sure, haven't had any liquids near it. Gets the fingerprint marks like any protector but a quick wipe and its back to looking like new. The response is the same as without the glass protector which was the main thing for me - my old S8 was horrible with a glass protector (In fairness I think it was due to the curved screen)

    Hey folks,

Considering moving back to Huawei from the OnePlus.
Caught between the P20 and the P20 Pro. Any reason to go with the Pro??

Bigger battery, slightly bigger screen and a better camera, especially in low.light, due to the gigantic sensor on the pro.

Upgrade cost is free for the P20 but 199 for the P20 Pro. Worth the money?

I went for the P20 as the Pro was about 200-250 more which didn't cut it for my needs. I get 25 - 30 hrs out of the battery and am a heavy user.

In saying that the Pro has all of the P20s features plus better battery, camera, waterproofing (I have a dustcap thing in my usb port when not charging - bit over protective!)

Since you're on bill and tied down to a contract for 2 years i'd definitely go for the Pro.

Thanks a million folks.  Now the only issue is that Im back to being tied into a 24 month contract.  But the phone will more than make up for it :)

Cant remember tbh, first trip with it, testing a little.
i think it was auto and it just recognises its night mode so takes a second or so to capture. didnt use volume button as more chance of shake/noise.

    Quick one guys.

I’ve currently got a HTC U11. Nothing particularly wrong it - just a little dated looking.

I’m eligible for an upgrade with Eir and don’t particulary want to spend a massive amount on a SIM free purchase so my choice is kinda governed by Eir’s (not overly great) selection.

So, with that in mind, I have it narrowed down to either the P20 (€249) or the P20 pro (€449).

Budget-wise I’m strongly leaning towards the P20 as I’ve read lots of reviews and, while the general consensus is that the Pro is the better of two handsets, the difference isn’t massive.

Based on your respective experiences, would you be willing to offer me any advice or try and convince me that the Pro is worth the extra €200?

Worth nothing, I’ll be selling my U11 for ~€200.

    Thanks.

I paid 389 for 128gb sim free P20, get off bill if you can! Pros are going for about 650 sim free too.

If you're staying on bill go for the pro. Better phone hence a bit more future proof especially over a 2 year contract. But I would never ever pay 449 for it on bill pay considering it's only 200 euro more to buy out right sim free and not tied to a contract.

Can I ask, how did you pay 389 for the P20 Sim Free?

Adverts.ie off a reputable seller. Save a fortune from shop prices.

Didn't mean to pry of course - was just worried I was missing out on some offer with a store or something. Cheers.

Oh, not at all :) There are a few users/shops in Dublin City Centre with excellent reputation selling for around the same price. I would highly recommend.

So, I took the plunge and ordered the P20 Pro (don’t judge rizzee! :) ).

What’s the best way to transfer everything over from my U11?

Also, I read somewhere on here that it comes with a sceen protector on it. Is that any good?

I’m thinking of getting the Spiegen rugged armour case for it - any other suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Ronan

Not at all, I am a little jealous ;)

Screen protector is a normal plastic one, it's grand, but there are good quality (&cheap) glass ones on eBay. I bought x 2 for 6 euro delivered from an eBay user in Galway, they are perfect.

That's the cover I use for my P20 :D It's excellent, phone feels slim and good fit/response from buttons. MY only criticism would be it is a small bit slippy.

    Enjoy!

Cheers Rizzee - appreciate your responses.

Any thoguhts on transferring files? Is there some built-in app on the P20 that automates the process?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,860 ✭✭✭rizzee

Yes; there 100% is one that I used to transfer everything from my S8 to the P20. It is built into the P20 and I had to download it on my S8 and they synced. I think it's called Huawei Manager or Transfer or something like that.... I'm looking through my phone now and have no idea where it is!! I must have deleted or disabled it... will keep you updated if I find it. It's 100% on the Huawei when you turned it on and it will prompt you to download the app on your old phone for easy sync.

Can I ask re tempered glass protectors - anyone find one that doesn't have the 'oily slick' side effect when you move your finger around? I used to find on my One plus phones that I either had dot matrix effects with screen protectors or the oil slick.. id love a spigen or other make of glass but they don't seem to make for the huawei's

I managed with the free case which was good but didn't protect the lenses. Went with the UAG plyo which us very good but delivery was about a month.
Think app is called Phone Clone to transfer but was prompted automatically.
