Once made a birdie here with 4 green staff standing on green looking at me... thankfully they missed the 4 balls I landed in the water in previous two rounds!

Corballis Links last Friday, have never seen a course as dry in my life.

I was there a day before you. I absolutely love the tanned look of the links fairways after a spell of hot weather. Hard and fast, as it should be. Interestingly the parts of the course shaded by dunes still had a lush green colour. Here's the approach to the 3rd:

My tee shot on the 4th hit the downslope of the left hand side of the green and rolled all the way down to where you took that photo.

Was a very interesting chip back up!!!

Funny enough I caught that slope aswell but my tee shot mercifully found rough half way down and the chip shot I faced wasn't as daunting as the one you would have had. I hadn't played the course for a few years prior to that round but I vaguely remember a little fence being there. It seems a bit harsh that a ball that misses the green by inches could end up on the far side of the third fairway and closer to the 10th green than the 4th! Then again it does add to the quirkiness of an already wonderfully quirky course. Tell you one thing, you did well to come off with only a bogey from there. Well done.

The fence was there earlier in the year but is gone now, I actually though the ball would have been up against it. We were searching in the rough and then spotted a ball in the middle of the 3rd fairway and were saying no way that was it, that belongs to lads playing up. It was!! I could imaging the lads on the 3rd saying to themselves "what sort off tee shot did this lad hit?!!!"

Cheers, All i could do was hit and hope and thankfully made the green and two putted for the half!!!

Great pic of Woodenbridge's par three over the river. Perfect green with an outer ring of burnt brown.

It was brown everywhere especially the first 9, way too tight to hold any fairway in firm conditions. Tee boxes and greens perfect though, some surrounds very brown.

PS Picked up your Destination Golf Scotland book, looking forward to reading it out the back shortly

I would have said perfect as I played it late last year but they have rerouted which threw me a bit.
The old 7th in now (still) a par 3 from the opposite side of the green and now number 11, so they have essentially eliminated what was a mad walk from the old 1st to the old 2nd and also incorporated switching the 9's around but also moving some holes out of the order they were previously.
The 1st hole is now Index 1 which to me is an absolute no-no, imagine going into an extra hole in a matchplay, it's automatically going to give the higher handicap golfer a shot on that hole.

Anyhow conditions...fairways were fine, greens were fine, green surrounds were okay with some browning, firm (but not hard) everywhere so all good.
They must not have any sprinklers on the raised tee boxes as they are 100% burnt through and rock hard brown, no impact on the game though just very slippy on them so care required.

Yes! Yesterday evening about 9pm. Course is just fab at the minute; they're watering the fairways with slurry tankers most evenings which I think is a bit extreme but I'm not the one responsible for the grass!

LOL, was immense heat at 8am, thought it would be much cooler actually but nothing further from the truth, been wanting to get there for quite a while and not disappointed, super super course, the odd patch of green was from slightly lower lying fairways. They were out watering the fairways throughout the day and also greens and surrounds, we played the 4th just after them turning off the fairway sprinklers (which we could see on for probably 10minutes or so) and it was barely wet to the touch, the sun was burning surface water pretty much instantly.
Bitten by the links bug (again) so off to Carne in the morning

    Did you enjoy it?
How much is a standard GUI Green Fee Sun-Fri/ Sat?
    How was the welcome?
Is there any one obvious thing we should change/ do differently?
