    This man is obviously an easy target as a scape goat however I don't necessarily disagree with trying to deter people.
    Just read that two minutes ago. I do hate imposters and 'I ran a marathon' fraudsters but sending the poor bloke to prison seems harsh. Very harsh.

    What was reported seems pretty accurate. The headline just seems like a flat-out lie.
    He was arrested after police searched the multi-faith prayer room at Heathrow airport, where he was found with items including a primary school worker’s ID card and a pink diary holding overtime hours worked by airline staff.
    This reads like it's an "and" story, not a "cause" story, i.e.:
    • man buys ice-cream, and is jailed for 2 years
    • man buys ice-cream, causing him to be jailed for 2 years
    The first line is reporting two unrelated incidents that just happened to occur to the same person, that seems to be the case in this story

    Ironically, you'll have loads of folks running next year for mental health charities.

    It's a health issue not a criminal one. He should be invited back to run it.

    An analysis of the sentence from someone who understands how the system works, and they haven't a clue why the sentence was as harsh as that.

    Got the feeling the sentence was more about the stuff they found on him at the airport then just the medal, after all he had stuff when he claimed he was going to hand into lost and found....but why didn't he hand it in?

    If it was that stuff then the sentence could make more sense, but he just got three weeks for that stuff. He had also nicked a canal boat somehow, but that wasn't part of the case.

    The 13 weeks were for fraud, which was for the marathon incident. Feels like VMLM had undue influence on the case to make an example of someone when they were not in anyway the injured party.
