This thread is for information about shops, restaurants and other businesses you have seen opening or closing.

It is not for hearsay ("someone told me X or Y is about to close") but for your own personal observations.

It is not for speculations on why a place closed/opened

Please be civil at all times to other boardsies and to the proprietors of the business.

Please don't chat, remember this thread is for information to others only what shops you have seen opening or closing.
It is not for questions, chat or discussions

New shop unit seems to have opened beside matt o flaherty chemist in Barna. Hotel Home is the name on the window but looks like a gift type set-up. Only spotted it because pedestrian lights were red so open to correction on type of business.

Delighted... Return the west to some of its former glory as opposed to the seediness that has developed...

I should say that the article doesn't say that the strip club is closing - it might move somewhere else in case anyone is worried.

Its being done by the lad responsible for An Pucan's makeover.

Former glory or glorious new future remains to be seen.

    As posted on Facebook

“Tony Kealys has reluctantly and sadly made the decision to close our Galway store as it has not traded as well as expected.

As a result we are having a closing down sale. All display stock must go! Call into the store in Briarhill Business Park, Ballybrit for more information.

The store is open Friday & Saturday 9.30am - 6pm and Sunday 12pm -6pm only until further notice.”

Meubles furniture store officially opened in Ballybrit last weekend, not sure if they'd been open before that.

Includes a nice large cafe on the top floor - very welcome option for anyone working in the Ballybrit/Parkmore area.

Three or four months open at this stage, a very late grand opening.

Probably belongs in the City just crazy thread but I don't like how they get to use a traffic information sign to advertise themselves.

Was the cafe open for a while too? Pass it every day but hadn't heard of it until the big sign went out on the dual carriageway.

It was due to open ages ago but when we were in there about two months or more ago there was no sign of it.

May as well unfollow this thread now so. It was one of the few active threads on here and now it's just bullet points and no discuss for some reason. It's getting quieter and quieter on here these days for this reason...

What I've noticed is that the forum tends to go quiet and then one of the regular posters puts up something. This normally leads to a series of posts as people put up openings n closings they have noted but not posted about n then it calms down again.
