I'm going to assume injured players can't feature, so:

    Mako V
    Owens
    Tadhg
    Ryan
    AWJ (c)
    Beirne
    Leavy
    Billy V
    Murray
    Sexton
    Stockers
    Bundee
    Ringrose
    Earls
    Kearney

    Best
    Healy
    Cole
    Henderson
    Stander
    Webb
    Farrell
    Williams

    Ashton 15 anyway

Don’t see Mako ahead of Healy, but those teams are too irishcentric. Think as good as Aki was for Ireland, Farrel would still start ahead of him, for the play making option. Stockdale had a fantastic season, but I’d still have Elliot Daly ahead of him if the lions toured this summer. I reckon Itoje would be ahead of Henderson too. Considering how dominant Ireland were this season though, it would be interesting to see if it reflected in Lions selections.

I suppose it depends who the coach would be!

Eddie Jones would pick a very different team to Joe I think...

You can pick your coach and associated 23 if you like!

Mako was outstanding at the weekend but had an average 6n. The same for Itoje. I wonder is there trouble in the English camp as they've been their normal selves for their clubs

I could see Healy starting with Mako impact sub. Billy V would definitely start if fit, and I'd be amazed if Farrell and Itoje didn't start if it was on this summer, regardless of 6n form

Full back would be interesting. Could well have been Ashton alright. I think Earls would definitely start on the wing

All in all it goes to show what a difference a year can make

    Ah yeah sure why not

    Eddie Jones

    Mako
    Hartley (C)

That tends to happen when a team has a slam to its name.

Id have Gareth Davies before rhys Webb.
Not sure Dan Cole has done anything to get into the 23 either. Either porter or berghan could be argued.
Also, I personally would b he looking to have huw Jones involved somehow, but I suppose not at the loss of aki

Any shout for the likes of Cowan Dickey at hooker? What about Cronin by the way? Scoring his fair share of tries, set piece has been quite good and whilst his ground play isn't the best his link play has been excellent.

I'd have Itoje in ahead of AWJ, he's found very good form in the latter stages of the season. I'd either start AWJ or leave him out of the 23. Henderson if fit would be a strong impact from the bench.

I'd potentially put Daly in at full back and as others have said maybe Farrell at 12, loads of kicking options.

From reading Planet Rugby I think Northampton fans reckon Hartley's career is over unfortunately.

He was very positive when commentating on the baa baas game yesterday. No attempt to dodge the question

Mako, Owens, Furlong, Ryan, AWJ, Shingler, Leavy, Billy V
Murray, Sexton, Stockdale, Farrell, Williams, Earls, Kearney

Bench: Hartley, Healy, Sinckler, Itoje, Simmonds, Davies, Henshaw, Larmour

In that situation it’d be funny that the only survivor from the ‘09 tests would be Kearney... and AWJ?

    Coach: Gregor Townsend

    Vunipola
    Owens
    Furlong
    Itoje
    Ryan
    Barclay
    Leavy
    Vunipola
    Murray
    Sexton
    Earls
    Jones
    Ringrose
    Stockdale
    Hogg

I admit that some of the decision above were to spread the jerseys around the various nations as well as the slight bias Townsend would have for Scottish players.

Would there be general agreement that Earls and Stockdale would be locked in as starters? I find it hard to argue against to be honest.

I think Liam Williams might have a thing or two to say about that

Think Parkes would be in contention for a starting spot.

  • Registered Users Posts: 589 ✭✭✭baas baa

    Feck it

    Mako
    Owens
    Furlong
    AWJ
    Ryan
    Not sure, possibly Shingler
    Leavy
    Billy
    Murray
    Sexton
    Stockdale
    Parkes
    Ringrose
    Watson
    Hogg

Harsh on Earls but I think others in the back 3 would have more eye catching moments in the lesser games.
