Sorry to keep bringing it back up but I just finished watching the debate, Simon Harris played a blinder.

I found it very interesting that Tobin chose to refer to the fetus as female in his closing argument, knowing what an emotive topic it is for women. Not at all calculated.

Using this debate to attack the government's economic policy was perhaps the biggest own goal of this entire campaign. I can't see either SF HQ or the no campaign being particularly pleased.

    Actual quote
“I’m not a young woman,I dont have a uterus I will never have an abortion,I spent 9 months in a uterus though and thats why I think I have an opinion on it”
This is the comms Director for the No campaign.....come on!!!! lol

Out of interest did anyone ask him what his memories of that time were?

I hope you never have to look in the eye of someone whose life hangs in the balance as a result of this decision.

Calina you and I may not accept a vote for something that results in the hard cases becoming collateral damage. I’d wager it is because we have both had some personal insight into what the people involved in these cases go through. But, for those that do accept the collateral damage, many justify it with the belief that they are actually saving lives. We can disagree with that view until the cows come home but there is no amount of logic that will change those minds.

Ok, I’m watching the prime time debate and I think I fancy Simon Harris now and I’m not sure where to go from here.

Well just remember, if you have sex with him, you could end up pregnant but it's grand because he's in a pensionable well paying job:pac:

Or just try "outercourse" or bum sex.
    Sounds like Abortomania.

    ABORTOMANIA:
A form of insanity characterized by great excitement and enthusiasm for abortion.

Could you point me to anyone who is excited and enthusiastic about abortion?

Just on a bus that was going down o connell street. Just across from the GPO there was a crowd of yes voters posing for picture but with about 10 or 15 no voters beside them dressed in what looks like people from the handmaid tale, a long red robe and a weird white hat (I've not seen the show, just the adverts) getting pictures taken aswell.

    Any idea what that's about?

He was good but not that good. Steen played a blinder.

The straight to camera piece to finish was either inspired or slightly cringe worthy - depending on your perspective

    They get "thoughts and prayers"

Until these unwanted, unloved and often sexually abused children grow up to have huge issues keeping within the confines of the law (including sexual abuse). Then it's "burn them at the stake!" #loveboth

I always got the impression that I wouldn’t be his type.... purely speculation of course.

He was very good. Steen can’t be arsed to show up.

I think the handmaids are also part of the Yes demo. It's something organised by Ruth Coppinger TD if you look at her facebook page, not quite sure what she's trying to achieve.
'Keep It Simple Stupid' would be my motto at this stage.

It’s reference to the handmaidens tale, where women are forced into pregnancy.

If there's a No result, what kind of resources would No proponents like to see put to work catching those that break the law?

I will hazard a guess it's nothing because most pro life campaigners don't consider a foetus the same as a living person.

It was really confusing as to what was going on, kinda creepy aswell. 15 women in red cloaks and funny bonnets just staring at the ground. Kinda makes sense now if they were part of the yes campaign,as they were standing right beside each other.

Thanks for clearing that up Armani Jeans

The Yes side have forgotten about the Rural demographic. Big mistake. They are not for changing.

Im from rural Galway but now living in the city. My home village is scuthered in No posters. My whole family, my close neighbours and everyone close to me who still lives there are all voting Yes. I wouldn’t disgregard a rural Yes vote on the basis of posters. I know most No posters went up in the dead of night and I see them as trying to bait and guilt a more traditional mind into voting No and maintaining the status quo. Thankfully, as far as I’m aware, my village are progressive and moving forward with the times.

This, indeed, is why Catholicism always regarded both masturbation and condom use as evil and wrong, but nobody is seriously talking about making it illegal or unconstitutional to have a cheeky tug.

You make it sound like all Catholics don't believe this any more, many actually do or at least say they do it has been made fairly evident over this referendum :pac:

Wow that is impressive considering she wasn't on the show at all.....

I'm in the mother in laws in a rural area. I brought a few yes leaflets with me and did a house to house. Most people here are conservative, the church is always full, but I'm getting majority of people saying they voting Yes.

Sure but they'd never talk about making it actually illegal.

At least... Jaysus, I really hope they wouldn't 🙈

Apparently the debate tonight will have a segment from a woman who was contemplating abortion and then CHOSE not to.

I can’t any more. I just can’t. I want to leave the planet.

    Hey guys,

If you are not registered to vote, is it definitely too late? I know the deadline was May 8 but if there is any way around it, let me know! I heard something on the radio earlier about going to the centre and that you wouldn't be turned away if you can show forms of ID, etc.

The Together for Yes crowd were on the roundabout at the train station on the way into Waterford this morning and this evening. They got lots of toot toots from me again:D

Sorry, you're out of luck. Your name had to be on the register by May 8 to be eligible for this referendum.

I really don't know to be honest, I'd say citizens information would be the best place to contact. The refcom website might have an faq section that might answer your question.

Thanks, I should add that I was registered to vote, it's just I am not coming up for my original address. Probably needed to update my registration to correspond to my new address, grr.

Thats if you're on the register, but haven't received a polling card.

You don't need a polling card to vote just ID. I don't think address matters. I think worth calling.
