ran a half marathon on Sunday my first in 2hrs v pleased with myself, could have done it faster with proper pacing and some experience..........

Anyway post race from knees down were rather tired and stiff and are just about recovered 48hrs later.

However Ive been having huge problems with cramp in ankles and lower leg muscles since.

    Any ideas ?

Ive easy drank 20L of liquid in the last 48hrs........ don't think Im short there....

    Well done on the race.
20L is a lot of liquid- by any chance was a large proportion of that alcoholic:)
If the answer is yes it should be pointed out that alcohol causes dehydration which can be the cause of cramps.
If the answer is no maybe you should increase electrolytes through hydration tabs, bananas etc.

20L in 2 days is excessive. Drinking too much water can be very dangerous. A good book on this Waterlogged from Tim Noakes is very good on this. You would be much better with dyorolyte mixed as instructed. A few of those, potassium and magnesium with a v easy run after the event is the best approach. Drinking excessive amounts of water is more likely to result in death than dehydration during a marathon or half.
