Sexy cop needs to be paired up with someone smart/intelligent. That's not going to be easy in Carrigstown. Can't think of one person who fits that bill.

I don't know what age Tommy O'Neill (Deegan) is but his face seems to bear the lines and marks of drug and alcohol abuse, which makes him seem older i'd imagine.

wife just back from a few days in Faro in Portugal and was in this cheap pit of a bed and breakfast place that had only Portuguese TV channels and no english speaking channels and watched a soap in Portuguese .. said this soap was worse than fair city ... imagine that - maybe she wont complain about it now when she watches it any more now

The Family? It wasn't really about wife beating per se. If I remember correctly, there were 4 episodes, each one focusing on a different family member. It was really good at the time, dunno how good it'd be now, but most of Roddy Doyle's tv/film stuff stands up well.
RTE would probably be better off showing it rather than most of the shlte they put on.

I think the daughter from it plays Sharon in FC, but he wasn't Sharon from The Snapper.

Irish soaps remind me very much of when I used to watch Australian soaps years ago and there would be a handful of recognisable actors and actresses that starred in different australian soaps - if you watched prisoner cell block h or a country practise (I think that was Australian) and The Sullivans you would see actors in it from Neighbours and vice-versa and then watch other aussie soaps or dramas and you would see them pop up again on it
