I agree but Copeland is a dud IMO.

We could do worse for squad depth though

I'd rather just give game time to some academy lad than sign a 30 year old dud, who we are only considering purely because he's Irish qualified.
What academy lad? Aren't Ulster already playing every one of them that can hold a ball and run in the right direction?

Dalton must be on 4 or 5 caps by now.

What about Agnew? He seems to be doing ok for the U20s. Not sure if he is in the Academy?

Ye hoping Dunleavy has a good game, haven’t seen him play yet! Can’t say I’ve seen much from Hall to warrant the hype.

Jones and dalton, hoping they push on next season.

Ah you see this frustrates me a bit launish (and this isn't aimed at you personally) but I hate it when we rule out 19 year old kids on the basis of one game. Has he not been injured since he played in that game a few months ago? Maybe you've seen him in other games that I haven't but I'd far rather we give him a chance, even if it means he doesnt play for the seniors for another year

Not taken personally! maybe I am being harsh considering his age. Just thought the other two had more impact/stand out about them. Missing an open side that can actually jackal!

You’ve probably hit the nail on the head though, we’re that desperate and sickened with our pack we’re expecting more from any academy forwards than we should at their age and experience!

There was a game against one of the Italian sides where our back row was Timoney, Jones and Hall and I think we won the match, but it's crazy to expect these guys to dominating games on their own. Whatever about our recruitment for next season, we really really need Coetzee to get fit and to give us a full season. A fit Coetzee and Jordi Murphy would transform our back row. You could throw one of the young lads in with those guys, and it would speed their development massively.

Of all our young forwards that I've seen so far Dalton is the one I have most hope for.

Is Dalton more of a flanker or a lock? I'm not expecting miracles but I'm also looking forward to seeing Dunleavy on Friday, heard good things about him.

Greg Jones was brilliant in the rwc a couple of years ago. I couldn't believe Leinster let him go. Timoney and rea also look like quality players considering their age. Agnew is listed as 6ft on the irfu website. There at lesst seems to be a light down amongst the gloom.

On a side note, whatever became of frank taggert?

They also have Caleb Montgomery from Portadown think he is on a development deal but gets plenty of A time, not sure with all the injuries why he is not getting a looking. Think he can play 4-8 as well.

think he has been injured himself.

From the limited i’ve Saw of Dalton and Caleb Montgomery (only pre season) they both seemed to have a bit of dog in them.

Dalton was starting U20 as a flanker I think, but definitely more a 2nd row. Scary to think he’s so young still!

Hoping Jones can push on this season also.

Really hope Dunleavy has a good U2O’s game.

Interesting that both starting openside flankers for Ulster u18 and u19 started at 13 for their schools this week.

I have been thinking about this now for some time.
What I would like to see coaching wise is Faloon forwards coach Soper backs/skills even kicking coach & Payne staying on as defence coach if he cant play with a DoR with experience. I am sure Soper would be able to step up to be the leader of the group but have the international experience above him which we wont find here unfortunately.

As to who the DoR could be I don't know. I am sure we all agree now Logan is not going anywhere as long as the money side of the business is working and why should he. Hopefully he just staying away from doing speeches to players.
The one thing I REALLY want is it to be sorted the first few weeks after the season ends to give whoever it is the change to get in and organised for preseason

I hope it is sorted even before then.

The only thing about the coaching ticket you suggest is that it's seriously lacking in experience. I'm not against it but you'd want an experienced DoR or Head Coach. I wonder if Jonny Bell would be interested in a return in some capacity.

What happened to Conor Joyce who I understand came into the Ulster u20 bumping off the guy who had the shirt and now he is gone again?

On the 7's starting at 13 MCB pack looked light (surprisingly). He might have been better at 7. CCB 13 was fine as their pack is v good.

Joyce was released by Ulster after a few years.

Joyce didn’t have the physicality or strength for the pro game.

I think it was the infamous Edinburgh away game last season that sealed Joyce’s fate.
