It’s huge payoffs like this that I’d love to show people who don’t have faith in the storygroup or what LFL are doing and where they’re going. Especially in relation to the new films and series coming.
Matter of time before filoni gets to helm a film or produce a live action series.

I dunno, I think the visual flair and art direction really lend themselves to animated.

I really liked that. It got real weird, and when SW gets this flavour of weird I get excited.

It looks like its a sort of triple bill next week.
I wonder is there something in their schedule that they're drumming out 7 episodes in 3 weeks.

There was a reason given but I can’t remember why but I’m not complaining. Better to get this stuff all in one than the waiting :)
I’m gonna go back and watch the mortis arc in clone wars and the Yoda episodes (both similarly weird and exploring the force). And the one with Ezra meeting Obi wan. That was a really great episode.

True!!!

Also!!
Ahsoka. I’ve always wanted her to cross paths with Luke at some point and tell him all about Anakin as she knew him. Things he couldn’t know about his father before he went dark. She knew him as well as obi wan. She’s barely out of her teens / early 20s id guess at this point. Loads of room to employ her in future series. The OT takes place over what, 10 years or so? So she could be 30s or 40s onwards if she was ever to meet Luke on his travels.

Really cool episode of rebel force radio where they go back and play interviews with Filoni and the cast talking about the mortis arc and what it means. He’s so coy and evasive about the father son and daughter but basically saying it’s sowing seeds for things to come.
Well worth a listen

Season finale. Phenomenal.

Tell everyone.
I can't say I fully understood why Ezra had to go away with the space whales, but they were a great call back. And this way we get full closure. They survived Star Wars OT and Ezra, Sabine and Ahsoka (and maybe Thrawn) still have a story to tell.
I wasn't expecting the epilogue. It was hugely gratifying.

Between the two series it's been 9 seasons. The arcs don't overlap completely, but with the tie in with the epilogue at the end, Ahsoka, the Clone troopers and so on it feels like one long journey. There were a few poignant moments but just from the way it all came together at the end I did shed a few tears.

One great thing about Star Wars, through all the missteps and whatever, you then see something like Rebels that ties everything together and makes the series feel like more than the sum of its parts.

So many questions.

Really enjoyed it but exactly how I didn’t want it to end.
ezra suddenly has a journey he has to go on? Presumably spiritual? So is he gone to learn or truly gone? ahsoka all in white? The robes luke wears at the end of TFA are part of a ritual to end the Jedi order. So what’s up with her wearing them? Definitely looks like the new series will be post ROTJ anyways. Whatever it might be. Also this technically leaves Thrawn alive too. I am wondering how that ship and Ezra Thrawn and everyone on it can survive when it’s been wrecked by the space whale including loads of windows smashedbut one of those things you have to let go.

So what’s the deal? Yoda was wrong or they’ve just broken canon and Luke isn’t the only Jedi out there, Ahsoka and Ezra are too.
The narration by a grown Sabine at the end was top notch. The chemistry between her and Ezra in these last 2 episodes was fantastic. As was the growth of Ezra as a leader. Backup plans, sacrifices, contingencies on a need to know basis, etc. Hera having a Kanan baby was unexpected and a nice touch. Especially since the child kept her name. Jason (Jacen?) Syndulla I imagine will eventually play a role as a budding Jedi.
This *felt* like Star Wars at it’s A game best. Now we only have a year to wait to see what the new series will be.

Well, neither are Jedi. Perhaps neither are strong enough in the force to deal with Vader either.

We don't know what Ahsoka has been up to. She's with the rebellion in some sense, because she turns up with a rebel escort at the end, but we don't know what she's been up to.

And Ezra's god knows where.

I suspect we're going to start seeing some sort of buildup to the First Order out in the edge of the galaxy, some new threat that Ahsoka and Ezra have to deal with.

Perhaps Snoke and his apprentice. They stop whatever dastardly plan, but Snoke survives grievously injured while Thrawn lays the foundations of their fleet.

Could be. Or perhaps
Ezra turns out to be Snoke after all? That’s bizarre but not off the table now.

Also to your other point, LFL recently trademarked Star Wars Resistance so it could well be your idea coupled with the resistance being born. Which would kind of be cool.

I really doubt that he's Snoke. I think it was in some lore book where they said that Snoke was hundreds and hundrdes of years old and had seen the fall of the Republic. Not sure where it is though. Either way, I don't see the value in going that direction. If they end up in the undiscovered armpit of the galaxy then I could see how they might use the animated series to make yet another bridge between series but it just doesn't fit to make them the same character.

Even if they bungled the execution in the films, the progression to Darth Vader made a kind of sense. Ezra has never been like that and his growth has gone the opposite direction, having learned to eschew easy answers, to connect with others and to let go of his past. Just from a storytelling perspective he wouldn't make a good baddie. Even if you engineered a fall, it would only be to redeem him later.

There's always a tendency in people coming up with theories that tie all the stories together in a neat bow, but what we've seen instead are overlaps that tie the universe but don't shrink it down to being about a tiny cast of characters that keep getting recycled.

I dunno David, I cant really see Snoke coming from Ezra, sure wasnt it in the novelisation of TLJ that snoke is hundreds of years, if not older. As for Ezra he's already turned down the chance to save Kanan and then his parents he seems pretty far from the dark side.
If rebels was to continue I wonder when it would take place, shortly after ROTJ or closer to the new trilogy timeline, but if that far along I could imagine that Heras son would play a prominent role.

Or even something along the lines of Sabine and Ahsoka reassembling the Ghost crew as they have found some trace of Ezra, going off to the unknown region in search of him, fighting Thrawn, maybe discovering the First Order and bringing that news back to the republic.

As to how Ezra and Thrawn could survive, easy the Force!

Ah I deffo don’t think
ezra turns out to be Snoke. Snoke saw the empire rise and fall but also Palpatine sensed Snoke out there but didn’t know what it was he was sensing. Snoke was basically biding his time. There are people out there already shouting Ezra is Snoke. Best ignored.

Got the last Jedi audiobook today. Apparently it’s PACKED with loads of extra stuff
including Luke and R2 searching the galaxy for years. so I’m hoping we get some sort of mention of ahsoka in there. They have to have crossed paths surely
Also!
GROWNED UP AHSOKA!!!!
YUHS!!

The finale was decent. It felt like it tied the show up fine. I think it ranks below Clone Wars but it was decent. The story, character interactions and Ahsoka just made Clone Wars stronger.

I thought
the Purrgil appearing brought the show a bit weaker until they went up against the Star Destroyers
and then it was like BAM! Aha! :)

Then at the end
seeing Sabine and Ahsoka teaming up.
That was just cool!

Yes definitely! Filonis thoughts on what happened after the end! :)

Also Ashley Ecksteins favourite episode :)

Actually if you know your Lord of the rings, the finale pretty much was this

The eagles, Gandalf the White, Legolas and Gimli in the appendices ... I see what you're doing @dave_filoni

There's also a deleted scene from some film that some might be interested in... :) Jump to 01:36

So, now that
thrawns fate is up in the air, they could possibly re canonize the thrawn trilogy? with a few minor tweaks.
Thought it was a nice nod to the trilogy that one of the imperal officers on the chimera was named pellaeon.

They have Thrawn back in canon the first of three new Thrawn books was released last year I think? Zahn wrote it but tbh it really didn’t set the world on fire and wasn’t as good as the first trilogy imo but as to that trilogy being brought back in I’d be up for it. Who knows though.

The time frame is so totally vague when it comes to when she had him.

He’s what, 4 or 5 there? Yet the epilogue in the final episode suggests it’s all after ROTJ?

How long are Heras species pregnant for exactly?
They just hard broke away from the idea that force ability is genetically inherited yet they’re gonna do this? In animated? Seems a bit flaky tbh

Ah I actually really liked the new book, didn't quite match up to Heir To the Empire series but there was enough in the first book to get me excited about the rest of the trilogy.
Pryce's story was a bit meh, but was cool to see her interactions with Tarkin (she is so much darker in Rebels)
really wanna know what the unknown enemy that the Chiss are fighting that we hear about at the end of the book

Oh I’ll deffo keep reading but I’m wondering
how the timeline in the new Thrawn books work, are they set before Rebels? We just saw Thrawn blast off into space with Ezra so it’s weird no? Also I’d like to think Snoke might be who the Chiss are fighting. But it’ll be a while before we ever get that questions answered won’t it? If ever.

Would be fun if one of the books was basically the last 2 seasons of Rebels from Thrawns POV
would love one of the books to be set after the Rebels finale but I'm guessing they will all be set before/during Rebels
