Others would say that's a common excuse that's trotted out when guys get caught.... "but I only did it this once".. " and only for a laugh"... rriiiggghhhttt.
My opinion is that's it's so well documented how easy it is to pass drug tests that anyone who's caught is either very unlucky or stupid.

I have to say that I never understood why some of my 'acquaintances' used to enjoy evenings supported by Dutch Woodbine. I was perfectly content with how life looked to me. One of my close friends at MCB during the 1960s died of a heroin/amphetamine overdose in the late 1970s having destroyed his life and his parents in the process. He was one of the nicest people I have ever met in my life. There is little to be said for recreational uncontrolled drug use i.m.o.

Of course in our society alcohol abuse is often treated as a subject of humour when in fact it has such an awful impact on thousands every year. Drunk driving is just unforgivable and yet we turn a blind eye to it and give those assholes a fools pardon. Perhaps we shouldn't. Should it be treated as the same as a player using cocaine for example.

They should get charged for murder when they kill some poor sod when drunk driving.... instead they get off with a ban and a fine usually... That's justice for you in both UK or ROI.

The difference between alcohol and heroin or cocaine is just a matter of perception. One is legal and therefore deemed acceptable, so are all the consequences of that perception. Drink driving, ah sure he didn’t intend to kill anyone, but he’d had a few and that diminished his responsibility. It’s absolutely insane what gets justified. Mention prohibition of alcohol in the UK or Ireland and it’s the same as mentioning gun control in America. Alcohol negatively impacts thousands of families on a daily basis, but prohibition wouldn’t work. Yet the same people will argue that prohibition is absolutely necessary for other drugs. It’s amazing that if JH had got arrested for drink driving, it wouldn’t even be mentioned as an issue at this stage, but the fact he recreationally used another drug (yes newsflash alcohol is a drug) and it stays with him for life.

It's not something anyone likes talking about but in some countries cocaine use is more prevalent than alcohol amongst athletes, including rugby players. Takes a lot of beer to get a 2nd row drunk, and beer is not conducive to elite rugby. Surprised more players aren't done for it, if anything. I wouldn't be a huge fan of Harrison for completely separate reasons, but people change.

Ulster Rugby team to play Scarlets, Saturday 24th February at Parc y Scarlets, kick-off 7.35pm (live on BBC NI):

    (15-9): L Ludik; A Trimble, L Marshall, S McCloskey, T Bowe; J McPhillips, J Cooney;
    (1-8): A Warwick, J Andrew, W Herbst, A O'Connor (Captain), K Treadwell, M Rea, N Timoney, J Deysel;
    Replacements (16-23): R Herring, K McCall, R Ah You, M Dalton, C Henry, P Marshall, P Nelson, D Cave.

Not a bad 23 for this. Didn't think McPhillips would be back. He's looked good so far. Scarlets missing a few more this week than last as well. Go on lads, do yourselves and your friendly blue neighbours an auld favour there.....

It's boring watching a team that wins every week.

That's why we follow ulster...one week they lose by a point or 2 to a last second drop goal and the next week they get hammered by 20 points!!

    Cracking start

I'm Rugby'd out so I'm not even watching this...or the real reason is that I'm scared of my wife!

But anyway it says a lot about where we are when I can't be arsed watching us play a league match. I hope I'm proved wrong.

Is that really Ulster in white?

    Thats an awful call

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

This is desperation to take the try away. In no way was this preventing 9 from covering.

    That's a sham of a call.

This stuff with the TMO is a farce.........ah here. That looked like a try for Ulster to me.

    Terrible call

That was a shocking call, ref went out of his way to not give that

FFS he did not want to give that. Awful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

I thought it was always a case that if a neutral referee wasn't available, they had a referee from the away team's nation?

That call was utter rubbish. Even the TMO disagreed with him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Ludik taken in the air and the locals chant "Cheat" at him whilst he gets treatment. Charmers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Never a hint that the Scarlets got close to grounding that. Why need the TMO?

Chris Henry should be in the bin. Laughably offside in the previous passage. Ruck on his own line and he was beyond the hindmost foot on the Scarlets side when the ball came back.

This is poor from Ulster. Lots of careless stuff when I thought they looked the better team. They'll lose this. And Stephen Ferris will cry. :(

Ulster imploding here, they just can't hold the focus and intensity for more than 60 minutes and they looked much, much better earlier on.

They're doing decently considering the pack they have out. They are too reliant on kicking and McPhillips is struggling to find any position with them.

Scarlets will carve you up if you give them so much space and possession. Unfortunate as Ulster were the better side for the opening 30 minutes.

How do Welsh regions survive financially. The attendances are shocking

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,779 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

Ulster forwards look like they’ve never seen a rugby ball before. The transfer through their hands is appallingly slow. And even when taking their sweet time getting the pass away they still can’t do it with any accuracy. This is just desperate stuff.

I wonder if Jordi and Moore are thinking "what the fcuk have we signed for"?

Interesting to see how we get on in the challenge cup next year.
