Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Thought this would be a good idea for motorists to advise where to be careful.

    The Ballycashin Road is littered with potholes at the moment drive carefully,

    and yes i have rang the council about this roads several times

    There's a very nasty one opposite the front door of the Dominican Church on Bridge Street. Strictly speaking it's not a pothole but a faulty manhole cover lid that gives way when a vehicle passes over it and springs back up again.I reported it to the Council. Said they would deal with it. The solution was to throw a shovel of tar and chippings on to it. It's still as bad as ever.

    There was an Item on RTE Radio 1 yesterday about upgrading of secondary roads around the country before upgrading or taking on newer projects. I think if there is a persistent area of issue then it would be better for more and more people to call the council about it, the squeaky wheel gets the oil and all that

    Should we do what they did in the UK, a man went around and sprayed a phallus around the pothole and the Council repaired the pot as there was a phallic image around it...

    The upper Ballytruckle/Old Tramore road is in bits esp along Cherrymount-Avondale stretch, they throw in some hot tar and chippings which are all scattered across the road after a couple of cold days/nights. Pearce Park road is starting to break and fragment quite generally.

    I've been onto the councillors directly myself loads and still not sorted. No point they shoving in a bit of tar, the whole section needs to be redone properly

    The Council were out today on the Ballycashin Road filling holes but not just Tar they have a huge machine on it, its being filled but ive never seen this machine used before looks like they are being filled under pressurised machinery.

    Biggest joke is the Board Gais works that were done on the cork road about 3 weeks ago just down from the RSC or up from the RSC before the slip road down to the dump.

    That road was cut up and filled a few weeks ago and there's a huge hole in the ground now and who picks up the Tab?? Tax payers no doubt.

    Should they not at least have a council engineer sign off on any works done on public roads by external contractors???

    Completely agree, this seems to be the main reason why our roads are so bad, they're dug up by some contractor and repaired to a sub standard condition and there's no accountability. It really shouldn't be acceptable.
