The world indoor qualifying standard for that event is utterly ridiculous. 8.19m is the standard..... this season, no one in the world has achieved it yet. Last season there was only 1 jump that surpassed that mark indoors! Qualifying does take into account outdoor performances, but still.

    Action this weekend

Phil Healy in action in Karlsruhe
Ciara Mageean in action in the Wannamaker Mile at Milrose.

Phil Healy with a 52.67 for 2nd in her heat in Karlsruhe.

Brave run with an aggressive first 200m (24.49) to get to the front at the break. Her lane draw meant she had to go for it. Great to see here mixing it in these top meets.

Mageean 4.30.99 for the mile for 3rd. 1500m split was 4.14.04. Solid start to the season.

The sand in Abbotstown is very dry and light. I can't remember if Athlone is the same, but if it is, he will surely break 8 outdoors
