Performances going down but whats attendance levels been like?

This is the first year in a long time that tickets for the Euro cup matches have been so freely available.
Must be a sign of reduced numbers.

I haven't seen the stats but I don't get the impression that attendances have dropped too much.

Despite disappointing season on the pitch, Ulster’s fans have stuck with their side, topping the list with an average attendance of 15,792. The northern province are closely followed by Leinster, who have an average attendance of 15,564 this season.
However this was May 2017

To be fair Ulster have largely performed at home. Beaten by Leinster and I think that's it really. That's what people show up for.

With out talking about the trial i just hope from a rugby point of view something is sorted before the start of next season so we know if we need to go get another 10.

If all parties are found innocent and wish to stay do you still feel we need another 10?

I'd certainly hope that anyone who has been accused of a crime and subsequently found not guilty would be allowed to continue on with their life.

I've posted before about my discomfort with applying to punishments to anyone accused but not convicted. It would be outrageous to punish someone who has been acquited.

I agree with what you are saying here but without going into detail I'm fairly certain they won't play for the province again.

I imagine Ulster are on the hunt for a full time replacement.

I can imagine the two would be of a mind to get a fresh start somewhere else

Well you need more than one serviceable 10 anyway, whether that be McPhillips or someone promoted internally or someone brought in from abroad.

I'd be very surprised if they stay. Belfast is a small city and they are public figures. Regardless of the outcome in the coming weeks/months, this will follow them everywhere they go for the next couple of years.

I'd be very surprised if they didn't both seek a jaunt abroad and potentially seek to return in 2-3 years, if acquitted.

Speaking purely in general terms about all cases - even if there's a not guilty verdict, it wouldn't necessarily imply innocence, there are plenty of other ways that cases can result in 'not guilty'. Additionally, the verdict would apply only to the charges that were brought, in any court case there might hypothetically be unpalatable stuff revealed during proceedings that would taint a defendant's standing in the eyes of the public, and that might even be illegal acts in and of themselves, but that wouldn't necessarily be what they were charged with, so they wouldn't weigh into the verdict specifically.

So we can't just say 'not guilty' = they're free to play, it's a lot more complex than that.

I agree with both Buer's & MJohnston's posts.  I am sure other posters on here based in Ulster have heard versions of what happened (MODS - I will not repeat any of it on here).
Its incredibly frustrating that its been postponed with no indication of a new date set.  This could run on until the summer.

Folks, people are entitled to the presumption of innocence until proven guilty, and some posts are verging on innuendo about that. For that reason, there will be NO talk about the trial until it is completed. Thank you.

Just heard from an in camp source that indeed LS was given his marching orders.

No doubt we will have to be on the look out for another coach not from here with a weird accent!

Is there any local talent or academy coaches that could do a job?

Stuart Lancaster would probably be the most ideal possible choice.

If he went I'd be absolutely sick tbh.

Funny, if he arrived, I'd be sick tbh! Seriously, we need a fuhrer, not another meek pushover.

I do like the idea of having a guy like him to help someone like Leo. I guess a more local coach could learn under him.

A quick Google search is showing these as the coaches of top ulster clubs/schools. (No disrespect to any other club)
Brian McLaughlin
Alex McCloy
Dan Soper
Jarrett Truscott
David Butcher
Willie Faloon
Nicky Wells
Neil Doak

I wouldn't characterise Jono Gibbes like that tbh. He strikes me as a tough individual.

I’m sure there’ll be another worldwide search and we’ll hire someone whos either from Lisburn or an IRFU poster boy.

Hopefully he meant SL as in Shane Logan

Who'd want the job at this stage? Completely poisoned chalice imo.

Absolutely no reason for Lancaster to go, if he leaves Leinster it will be for an english club.

The same problem will exist, if you want to use the rod, you need to have one. It’s pretty difficult to be tough when you aren’t in a position to drop players who won’t tow the line.

Seems Lancaster’s approach is working in Leinster, but then again he has a big rod if he wants to use it.

O Gara for me if he works out in the Crusaders. He's only there for 1 season as far as i know plus hes a Defence coach and attacking coach. Dean Richards has a Pedigree with rebuilding squads and Developing academy players ( Quins , Newcastle). Probably be some kiwi though.

Dean Richards is a good call actually.

Funny you should mention ROG, because he's been quoted today as saying he wouldn't want to come back to Munster. I would assume the same would apply for Ulster. Apparently only interested in working in an Ireland context if he got the chance.

Well he says not coaching Munster is more about not coaching players he played with. Very few players left in Ulster he would have played with.

Richards can certainly blood players.
