Pretty well I thought. Made some good carries and tackled his socks off. 13/1 according to ESPN, only beaten by Henderson at 13/0.

A drop goal would have meant they were kicking the ball back to Ulster, miss or not. Ulster were deep in the 22 in the final 15 minutes on separate occasions for multiple phases. The period leading up to Henderson's spill was as easy a chance for a drop goal as possible. If CL or McPhillips can't hit that they're in trouble. It was bang in front from 15m.

I think the players weren't aware of the situation and impact of denying them a BP.

Drop goals seem to have gone 'out of fashion' for some reason. They used to all the rage in 07, then they became de jour after that when on a penalty advantage in the opposition 22. After that they figured that a cross field kick was worth more risk on an advantage, especially in the era of tbp.
Teams seem to have forgotten the simple rewards of a drop goal

I think Ulster were so focussed on the try bonus point, they forgot about the necessity (or maybe forgot is the wrong word there) of depriving LAR of the losing bonus point.

They may have felt that the TBP would have killed two birds with the one stone and so it was worth more going for both than just one. They were in with a good shout of getting it too.

    Have faith. ;)

I actually would be wary of putting money on La Rochelle, even with that spread. ULster have only lost once at home this season and that was against Leinster. Then there's the whole yo-yo/bungee thing that Ulster seem to have going on, so there's every chance that the bookies have this about right.

I see we've officially approached Cooper about coming over for next season

Christ no. Hopefully nothing comes of that. It will be a very expensive mistake.

The source is the rugby paper so I don’t think it’s that reliable.

I see Steenson signed a new Exeter contract.

He was never signing for Ulster.

    Aye I know that.

Nordi Murphy looks like a cracking signing for us next season. Been right on the money against Glasgow here

His best game so far. He's a guy who is definitely getting better with the more games he plays.

He made a lot of carries and tackled well, a good blindside flanker performance.

Murphy was really good today for Leinster. I was thinking to myself that even with all their depth that Leinster are crazy letting him go, although I'm sure they tried to keep him.

He is a great signing for us.

According to uafc the Ulster players got together after 20 minutes yesterday and binned the Kiss gameplan.

What a load of crap. That place is full of s****. The stuff that gets said about Kiss on there is ridiculous. If Kiss ever read it (I hope for his sake he doesn't) it would be no wonder he was close to tears yesterday after the match.

Yea you need a nonsense filter on that place.

There are lots of posters on there that make me look like a member of the Les Kiss fan club. Did you see the photo of the guy who went to the game in a FOLK t-shirt?

A general rule of thumb is that LF, UAFC and MF are 50% bile filled idiots.

And I might be generous with the 50%.

MF is far quieter than previous years. A lot of the loonies are gone.

Its not that bad. And people who post their but not here say the same about here...

It is far quieter. When i joined it years ago the domestic rugby chat was huge but its non existent now and pro chat is down a lot as well.

I haven't read it in a long time but it was utterly brutal when I did. Massive chips on their shoulder. It was only a slight step up on Gwlad with anything contrary to the hivemind getting savaged. The mods were among the worst offenders.

Haven't posted on LF in a long time but read it once every few months and several of the most bitter are still very much there and take more enjoyment from others losing than Leinster winning. There was a period where there were 4 or 5 fantastic posters who gave a really good insight into games and did great analysis but those posts became fewer and fewer. The bile from a number of them during the MOC phase just took over the site and it never recovered.

This place is moderated. Back when I read it, the mods were some of the worst offenders on MF. They took it way, way too seriously.

    Have you met awec? :D

I enjoy posting on UAFC, it's a bit more open in terms of what you can and cannot say compared to here. A bit liberating. :D

But you also have to have fresh batteries in your bull**** filter.

I certainly would prefer if he wasn't leaving anyway.

I find the provincial forums too much of an echo chamber. At least here there's a number from each giving opinions

    Really?

Someone who identified themselves as Buer came up to me once and asked for an autograph and a photo?
