Jesus christ - what notions. Living on another planet altogether

"Actress Jenny Dixon, who plays the character of Kerri-Ann in the long-running soap, has spoken about the possibility of working in Hollywood.
‘I’m very lucky that my work on Fair City is in blocks so while I’m not working here I do go to Los Angeles,’ she said.
‘I have a manager out there, and I attend drama/acting classes. It keeps me sharper because when I return I have new skills.....
The 33-year-old spoke with the RTE Guide and admitted she likes the idea of being a world citizen.
‘I have friends in LA who are like family, because we have shared the journey, and we give each other great support.
‘But my philosophy is to be grateful for every day that comes along. The way the world is now, you can work anywhere.
‘So, Ireland is my base and I love to travel. I’m fluid to the concept of being a world citizen.’"

I actually blame Doug for Hannah dying. If he wasn't so goody goody in the first place reporting Miriam to head office this wouldn't have happened!

I also enjoy watching it, your not alone. Its taboo in this thread to actually say you like watching it.

FC can be good and I enjoy stories like this cult, the Katy kidnap, Dermot's scam, mad Lucy, and all gangland ones. I enjoy watching FC overall. That does not mean I have to enjoy all the storylines. Too much of this Kerrie Ann stuff, Orla's screeching baby, Damien v Pete, Condors, yet another affair storyline, etc. ALL disinterested me. Other stories are interesting and though often flawed, they provide something a little different to the usual and are entertaining. The cult story was not one's typical soap and was much better than what is happening in say Emmerdale.

Wonder does she put the skills she learned off Hugh Heffner on her CV?

People are harping on about the gun ffs- if you got a flare gun in the head you would know all about it!

Yeah but if you got shot in the head with a real gun you wouldn't know about it because you would be fuccking dead. :pac:

Fair City is the modern soap version of the 80s action film.

It's enjoyable and fun as long as you turn your brain off and don't take it too serious :pac:

I feel one should not take films, soaps, dramas, etc. too seriously. They are escapism and they of course cut corners. One could tear is whole Oakley story to shreds. Where is Charlotte for example. Why is Oakley so trusting of Emmett who he barely knows? Why isn't Kerry Ann in it as she is the most gullible and unintelligent character after Emmett in it. One could point to all this and more. Some will complain this was brought to a head too soon but others were not happy with how the kidnap story lasted over a year.

The worst part of all of this is that the insufferable Pete will be going around with an "I told you so" head on him after all this...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,801 ✭✭✭Jurgen Klopp

Who here started the last Facebook thing about Katie?

Can we get Pete's casting photo like they used for memes and put "Biggest prick in Ireland" on it

The Fair City banter page was a great loss

I have yet to see one 'new skill' she has brought back. Ive seen better actors in local drama groups who work once a year at Christmas

She strikes me as the type that would campaign for open borders as we're all "citizens of the world"

But would be the first to lead protests when all medical cards and social welfare systems got scrapped under too much strain

Or the recent coalition elected in Austria, the uproar of Poland, Hungary, etc to mass migration

Or Israel telling illegals the other day it's a plane ticket home or jail :p

I actually found myself screaming at Emmett towards the end of the episode, as usual he's absolutely useless.

If he couldn't shoot because of the petrol (after missing his massive opportunity to shoot him before he just let him run out 9f the room), he should have just cracked Oakley across the head with the gun. I presume it's fairly solid..

Neo-Nazis need Indiana Jones to deal with them, NOT Paul Brennan :)

Oakley clearly was not afraid of Emmett and knew he was not going to use the gun. Another example was when he just drank the what I presume was the beer Ciaran gave him when he had an opportunity to fight back instead. No one's idea of a hero!

Well unless Indiana plans on taking on the majority of Austrians who voted the number 1 and 3 parties forming a coalition he may be better off checking McCoys cellar for treasure with Paul

Jesus h Christ. Ladies and gentlemen. History has been made! That was the most ridiculous episode of any tv programme ever made. How did the actors agree to it? Imagine the shame if they ever watched themselves! I loved it, hilarious but Fair City is actually supposed to be a soap/drama not a comedy. Script writers and a director were paid for that! Is there any accountability? If that was any other network in the world that would be a call for cancellation. Does RTE have a director of programming? FC does NOT help actors, culture, the performing arts, talented writers. It's a joke and standing in the way of some decent programming.

    What a f@&ckin laugh though :)

I know it's an old cliché but I've seen better acting on a February night here in the local village hall.

Her character is awful and one cannot gauge how good/bad an actor is with such a character. My main fault with FC is that there have been too many Kerrie Ann types in it just filling in time between the better stories. She ruined promising characters like Decco. I feel these 'whose baby is it' stories have been overdone nearly as much as the affairs that cause them in soaps. And one with KA centre stage will not be anything but poor. Decco should be caught between crime and his genuine attempts to get out of it akin to Love/Hate's Darren, and not caught up in a romcom story with KA.

Look love, if you didn't make it when you were I your 20s and hanging out in the Playboy Mansion then you certainly won't make it in your 30s! Talk about deluded!

I always thought Decco should have being gay. They could have done a good story with him instead of Bob and his lesbians and Cristiano.
