It's amazingly how you can get some fun out of undercard characters when you, I don't know, give them a weeks notice of what their next match is....

Imagine not scripting wrestlers and letting them be themselves?

English's promos have such a natural funny tone to them. So easy to tell they're not done by a team of WWE writers.

"Rusev is an American citizen...I think?"

What now? Aiden English is given the freedom to do his own promos?

I'm assuming they do the twitter stuff off their own bat.

Paul Heyman is a huge fan of Marty Scurll.

I am, indeed, a huge admirer / fan of @MartyScurll. Anyone who is not, is simply not paying attention to the trends in the industry nor the proper villain who will show us the way into the future!

Seems Kenny Omega was a bit upset after a recent stunt by a dude name Logan Paul (Someone fill in the plot holes as to who he is)
What’s worse than the obnoxious try hard comedy is the sad fact that almost 200k ppl have seemingly enjoyed the blatant disrespect of a country that isn’t theirs.

I rolled my eyes a bit at Kenny tbh, who I typically like. It’s standard virtue-signalling. He’s not wrong like, but 6 days later trying to jump into the discussion that’s already dying down reeks of someone looking for likes because they’re jealous of someone else’s following (especially considering Kenny and The Elite are in the same industry now via BTE) and don’t really care about the issue at hand.

The backstory is that Logan Paul is a popular YouTuber who showed a pixelated image of a person who’d committed suicide in Japan’s famous suicide forest and he’s, rightly, getting hammered for it considering a large % of his audience are kids.

I can kind of understand Kenny's delayed reaction given he had more important stuff on his plate to deal with. Also virtue-signalling?

I saw the name trending on Twitter and I thought, don't know who he is, so less of a flying fiddle I could give to be honest, but what he did, ****ing hell that's disgusting, for someone who's audience is a large percentage of kids, he should've had a bit more cop on.

i think he done another video were hes dressed in traditional Japanese clothes and insulting the culture too which is the one kenny was responding too

I’m just cynical of anyone who uses a public, social media platform to champion a cause they’ve never particularly seemed interested in because it’s relevant to the news cycle. It comes across as fishing for likes more than actually giving a ****. If someone wants to point me towards Omega raising awareness about male suicide in Japan, though, I’d happily be wrong because I want to like the guy (and still would after this tbh). Similarly if he used his platform from here on out to promote awareness on the issue I’d be impressed. But if we’d treat Stephanie McMahon cynically if she waded in like this, then you by extension should be cynical of others, whether they’re ‘cool’ or not.

Logan Paul is an idiot, though. No news there. But teenagers following idiot vloggers who have no right to deal with serious issues, yet try to and get it wrong, is nothing new either. Remember Bieber started taking ‘funny’ pics in Anne Frank’s old house?

Kenny was responding to that absolute sub human waste of oxygen in a video where he's running around Tokyo throwing things at people and cars, dressed in a traditional Japanese gown of some kind, going into shops breaking stuff, running around the roads with traffic, shouting like a complete bellend.

I can see 100% why Kenny would be upset since he spends all his time there and is respectful to the country. Then seeing an unfunny asshole like that make a mockery of their culture not only makes Kenny look bad, it makes human beings look bad. He's not looking for ****ing likes, he's telling the truth.

That's the tweet he responded to, nothing to do with suicide.

We dont agree all the time J holic, but you bang on the money here.

Then why did he bring up how many views the video got? What's that got to do with it?

I mean, I know you want to do the whole "Kenny Omega: what a good guy" narrative because he's cool, and he is the dude is an awesome wrestler who I believes genuinely loves Japan. All I'm saying is that he's also trying to play the "good guy" narrative and it's a bit eye-rolling, when really it's about "Why does this guy get more views then me? Well he F'd up so I'm gonna stick the knife in now." Which is what it's really about 90% of the time with these guys.

He was annoyed that 200,000 people like the video of him being a massive child. 200,000 idiots. That's what he meant.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,446 ✭✭✭ShagNastii

Yeah I think you're looking waaaaay to into it Leggo. I don't get an iota of YBer evvy from Kenny. I believe he's not in anyway doing it to look virtuous. It's basically as Jericho has pointed out above.

Kenny expressing despair that 1/4 million idiots enjoy or look favourably on that Logan Paul's video. Which is obnoxious to a point that most people would happily punch him in the face for a week and fail to get tired.

Just because the video has 200k views doesnt mean they enjoyed it

Is it not that his channel gained 200k new subscribers on the back of the controversy? So he has profited and increased his future profit margin by being an obnoxious d!ckhead towards an entire country & culture. Either way I don't get where Leggo is coming from on this at all

Despite the recent controversy, his channel is still growing like nothing happened.

Yeah this whole conversation is what I’m talking about. What does his follower count have to do with it? If a large number of people see it, it can still be disgraceful.

If Omega’s goal was to hurt this guy’s business, then publicly talking about it and exposing his followers to this guy (launching conversations like this where everyone is now learning who Logan Paul is) was at the very least misguided. That’s why this person’s follower count is rising: because so many celebs are looking to get in on it by saying “No I’M the one who cares about this the most!” and making this chap more famous than he ever was to begin with.

I don't think he gives a **** about social media numbers, he was pissed off about what that loser did in Japan and he called him out on it. And rightly so as someone who spends a lot of time there and is respectful of their country. Simple as that.
