    Hi Boarders,

    New member here, looking for your recommendations for car restoration folk in Dublin / Kildare area. Porsche 928 needs a bit of love, but it really isn't a vehicle to work on in a driveway, so I'm hoping to leave it in to get it back to its original glory in exchange for some beer tokens. Needs a respray and some very light panel work.

    OOps just seen your beer token quip.

    I imagine you,ll get **** all work done on a porsche, for a few cans.

    Yeah, that seems to be the general vibe, but they're not hard to work on in any way. Mechanicals are all good, it;s just impossible to work on something with 6 foot long doors in a semi detached driveway - lack of time and facilities, same ol story for many a classic, but I don't want this one to dissappear into a mossy grave. It doesn't need a porker specialist, just someone good with classics.

    Seriously, you are gonna need something more than beer tokens to get some level of resto done.

    Its not fair to expect someone to supply all their facilities, tools, knowledge ins for a couple of beers.

    You are going to have to cough up denaries.

    There seems to be some confusion entering the discussion here. I'm not looking for anyone to do work for free or loose change, I used the term beer tokens as a light hearted term for payment - I know the bill will be a few grand and I'm willing to pay for the work. I wasn't aware that beer tokens were a real currency that were associated with budget requests.

    I am looking for recommendations based on other users experience as I don't want to leave my vehicle with someone I don't know with absolutely no knowledge of their pedigree. Also - even though it's a Porsche, it is just a classic car, the same as a Ford, Mini, MG etc. Because it's a Porsche doesn't mean the actual labour involved should warrant additional $$$ - OK the parts are more expensive, but I already know and accept that.

    I can do this work myself, but I don't have a lift and I have a wall on one side, so simple tasks like doing fuel lines or even brakes involve working on one side of the vehicle before reassembling everything just to swap it around to work on the other side, I don't have the time and I was hoping that someone somewhere would be able chime in with some helpful advice.

    I know there's dozens of small operators that are only known in secret circles - that don't have websites or appear on search engines that do fantastic work - that's the kind of info I was hoping to find.

    Sorry for the confusion. I took the term in a literal sense, coming from a forum that uses that, and means that.:)

    you will not be disappointed with this guys work, his attention to detail is next to none, he is a bit more expensive than other guys, but you pay for what you get...he is also a porsche lover from what ive seen....nice guy to deal with and no bs with him...

    sorry was it mechanical or bodywork you wanted done or a bit of both. as you mention if bodywork, and not rust, its the same as painting any other car.

    If mechanical they are simple but parts can be expensive !
