Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Staying away from a City player cause Chris Hughton teams are typically tighter than a camel's arse in a sandstorm, and promoted teams often start well.

    No need for risks in GW1.

    I'm thinking of going without Lukaku, Kane or Aguero in my side :eek:

    Kane still a possibility, but probably won't have the other 2. Looks like a masssssssssssive risk looking at the captaincy figures already. I love an auld fantasy gamble though. Jesus or a Liverpool player in my thinking right now.

    Am I panicking picking Batshuayi as captain? They play Burnley at home and he's had a great pre season. Is Lukaku or KDB a safer bet?

    Lukaku. I think he's going to troll,the bejaysus out of us, but his ownership and captaincy levels are so high it's way too risky not to pick him.

    Lukaku certainly, KDB somewhat of a 'risk'

    I posted previously in this thread going for Lukaku & about 'punting' for Zaha in GW1 but after reading quite a bit, GW1 is not for punts.

    Say you do go for Batshuayi, he starts and at best, gets an assist where as the majority of people in your leagues and globally have gone for Lukaku who gets a hat trick and 3 bonus, you're playing catch up with everyone right from the off.

    If Lukaku was to fail and you and the rest are on him, then everyone is in the same boat bar maybe the odd 'punter' on their own, the rest of your team will dictate your GW1 points to see where you finish.

    It's not to say either scenario will happen but it's best to play safe than to punt right away.

    With Lukaku near 50% of ownership it only makes sense to give him the armband.

    As others said - too early to take risk. We will have plenty of time to do silly things :D
