Good chart shows his playing record and ranking. So hard to make big moves up those rankings!

Going well again this week. Currently T12th on 15 points in the modified stableford format

  • Registered Users Posts: 266 ✭✭Eaglebridie 32

Another 10pts in round 3, currently t14, projected 119th in FedEx, a good round today will secure his card for 2018, best of luck to him, a great achievement if it comes to pass.

Not a great start, 2 bogies, at least he has had them early.

Birdie's is what he needs to ensure he keep's inside the top 125.

Not happening I'm afraid. Falling way back.

    Projected 127 now

He only needs to make 2 Fedex cup places and would certainly be odds on to birdie the last, he birdied it the first 3 rounds and it's a par 5. Missed a putt from 3 feet which will no doubt haunt him if he finishes outside the 125.

Pga next week so not playing . The wyndham in 2 weeks is the last counting event . He will fall a few places next week though

Depends on what position he is going into it . Could miss the cut and still be ok but a too 35 would def do it either way

    Forgot about the Wyndham.

That eagle on 18th gives him a lifeline. Hope he takes it.

    Forgot about the Wyndham.

Official points will be up in about an hour. Hopefully he has a good points gap back to the person who is 126th

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,171 ✭✭✭ronjo

So he is up to 123rd and 11 points above 126th place.
He got 21 Fed ex points this week. A par would have been 8 and a birdie 13 as far as I can see so it could be crucial.

As far I can make out the following are the only ones below Power playing this week.
12 players and 3 are Irish

    DanielSummerhays 124
    GraemeMcDowell 131
    ShaneLowry 146
    JimFuryk 156
    VijaySingh 175
    AndrewJohnston 187
    PadraigHarrington 201
    DavisLoveIII 211
    ErnieEls 215
    Y.E.Yang 219
    DannyWillett 226
    ShaunMicheel T239

Fair chance he can actually stay in top 125
To add more info Lowry is 81 points behind, Furyk 115 and Vijay 213 points behind

And its good info but the field at the Wyndham will probably have more of those still hoping to scrape in.

I am sure virtually everyone from 115-200 will be at the Wyndham for last chance saloon as the top guys will be taking a rest before the playoffs. If he keeps his form of late he will have a great chance of making it.

Presumably there are no points for missing the cut, which I expect most of that list to do just that. What would a 60th place finish get in terms of points, for reference?

Points for everyone making the cut. 39th place gets 19 points. 29th place gets 33 points. 20th place gets 51 points. 10th gets 82 points. If a player made the cut and finished 75t he would get 3 points. Nothing for missing the cut

It will all come down to the last tournament after the USPGA, there will be plenty guys in and around the 125 mark playing for their cards, so a good performance will be required, which we know he has in him. Very nice steady improvement in his performances all year.

Still at 123 after the PGA, he's in a precarious position no doubt, but I'm sure he would have taken it at the start of the year.

Anyhow, i think a missed cut would see him outside, and would need top 30 or so to be sure?
