Novelty Draft 8 team league Free

I'll run an 8 team novelty draft league.

First 4 rounds will be normal draft picks.

After that we will have stipulations for rounds 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 and 15.

Stipulations for example might be;
Round 7- Irish internationals only,
Round 11- uncapped players etc.

We can discuss what interesting stips to include if there's interest in the this type of league.

Also certain gw's where transfers/waivers take place example gw 6, gw's 12 etc., that way there's less demand to keep changing your team.

First 8 names to register any interest get the places

Right, now we've people joined we can flesh out the details a little more.

Will set the timer at 30 seconds a pick, so the draft will take roughly an hour in total.

We will agree a date and time when we fill the other 3 places.

If for some reason you can't be live for the draft, have your preferred order set up.

If you can't be live for the draft then for the novelty picks you will have to remove 6 of your pre-selected players and replace them with 6 players that fulfil novelty criteria.

First four rounds and every even round after - normal draft picks.

Rd. 5 - Player from a promoted team

Rd. 7 - Player not capped by their country yet

Rd. 9 - Player over 30

Rd. 11 - Player under 21

Rd. 13 - Player who has joined a new club this summer

Rd. 15 - Player who has represented Rep. or N. Ireland

You must keep these novelty criteria fulfilled throughout the season.

There's a few pay leagues started up by others though

Will set a cut off of 31st of July to fill the last two spots, if not we might run with the 6 and set a draft date then

Assuming we're doing the snake order of draft picks 1 2 3 4 4 3 2 etc if you have every odd round for the novelty's then the person in position 1 is always going to have first pick for the novelty's and will always get the best player while player 8 will get the player who doesn't even play.

Very good point. Will have to group novelty rounds together so.

If nobody else joins the league we can do novelty rounds from round 7-12.

If we get an 8 team league then 9-15.

Thoughts on above?

Any other novelty ideas or the ones I put forward ok?

It's going to be ridiculously messy to enforce the novelty picks. I could pick Jonny Walters and argue that he fulfills the criteria of 3 novelty picks - is that allowed? If I pick a promoted player in an early round, does that mean I'm not obliged to pick one in the novelty round?

It could be a better idea to say your squad must end up with a player for each of the novelty criteria, regardless of what round they were picked?

Maybe that's a better way to go about it. Would also get around Rikand's earlier point about novelty round order and preference.

Even if a player fulfills more than one criteria, it only counts for one.
It would however give you time to think what criteria the player covers and make the draft more fluid, in that I could pick Walters initially as my over 30 player, then realise as the draft continues that there's another over 30 player that I want, then Walters can cover either move to a new club/Irish criteria.

So your squad must contain a player fulfilling criteria but can be drafted at anytime.

Happy to roll with this if everyone else is?

Only 6 of the 8 have joined into the league and we are within the 48 hour pre draft deadline set, so I'm opening back up the last 2 slots.

Draft is taking place at 9pm on Tuesday. Novelty rules above.

Will PM league code if anyone interested.

Still only 6 in for this, draft tonight at 9. If nobody else joins by 3pm I'm going to delete as 6 is too small a number I think
