So far I've only been using the motion controls and doing well with them. However, after using the joycons in the grip, that's motion control retired.

It would be great if you could reconfigure the buttons to your own preference as I'd like to remap switching target. That saved a few opponents in the paired matches!

Review embargo is up at 3pm today

Seems to be getting very decent reviews, a lot mention bit light on content but with free DLC that will certainly be beefed up considerably in the months to come. Although reviews mean a lot less if you played the Testpunch or not, I would guess a lot would know already whether they would be getting or not from those. I certainly loved it.

Like Splatoon I'd say if they were to rereview it in the future it would get higher scores.
So have they been playing online already? a review server? Usually games with online elements are reviews in progress.

I think I'll be passing anyway. Not a fighting game fan.

*cut to one week from now with me shouting "What do you mean there's no midnight release?!?"

Ya I think they have had some sort of review server, have heard some journalists saying about matches with other journalists.

A solid 78 average on metacritic, better than I expected.

8/10 seems to be the average on most of the main sites.

So, who is buying this Day One??
I think I will, with Father's Day incoming and I dropped enough hints!

    Day One for me definitely.

After watching the Arms tournament last night I aim to one day be a grandmaster like Mr. Yabuki :P

Looks like €65 in Smyths and Gamestop. Any chance that Argos will be lower?

€60 in the eShop seems like the best value...

Thanks. I might try the USA eshop and hopefully it's cheaper on there.

Jaysus. Amazon have it for 51 euro, less if you got any of the recent 5/10 off offers. But the wait... The wait....

    Father's Day Gift.... Confirmed!!
So, it'll probably be Argos for me.
I've a fiver gift card, following buying Lego City and Overwatch, so that'll be going towards Arms.
Question now is will they have it on Day One??

€57 in Argos (cheaper if you've one of their €5 or €10 vouchers).

Arms review: Nintendo's springy limbed fighting game is ridiculous fun

As soon as I started the tutorial on the "Global Testpunch" I was impressed by this one.

The motion controls are so satisfying and it's something a bit different and more energetic as a result.

I'm not sure how deep the gameplay is exactly but there is a nice variety of characters (10 characters currently) and a nice variety in available "arms" for each character.

Also consider that the Nintendo Online service is free until 2018.

This game is a ton of fun and I would definitely recommend it.

(There, that's my Nintendo sales pitch)

I put in a pre-order back in January with Amazon, using ?5 off voucher.

It shipped yesterday, but its not likely to show up until Monday. Except now I've a work trip on Sunday and Monday, meaning I won't actually pick the thing up until Tuesday, because I posted it to my office. Shrewd move on my part.

Haven't been following the game at all but are the motion controls mandatory?

Argos at 56.99 seems to be the cheapest place to pick this up today.

Nope. All control methods are supported including single joycons although I'd imagine that wouldn't be great.

Motion controls are great to use in this game though.

So based on online talk and not just reviews, is this expected to do well in Europe, America and Japan? We looking at Splatoon level?

Not at all. You can use the controllers attached to the switch or attached to the grip or the pro controller too.

The motion controls are more fun though (in my opinion).

I just wish they had ARMS amiibo...
