As some may be aware zarquon sadly passed away a few months ago after a battle with cancer. From another thread it became apparent that some may have missed this sad news. He was a great contributor on here for a number of years. This is only a game that we get a lot of enjoyment and heartbreak out of but let's remember someone that loved the game as much as we all do but unfortunately passed away way too young. If we leave posting our teams till after midnight next Saturday.

Lovely gesture Busts. Let all of us do Zarquon proud by finishing the season off in style.

I didn't know at all that he had passed away. So sorry to hear this.

I'm wondering if next year we could run a paid league where 1/2 of the proceeds go to a charity? Name it after Zarquon.

I did not know this either, very sad news. Would 100% be up for a league in his name.

The Charity Cup we ran this year was in tribute to him. We started it before he passed away, after learning of his illness, but I'd suggest naming it after him going forward.

We donated all the proceeds (€660) to the Galway Hospice as nominated by Zarquon.

Thanks Busts, didn't know he had passed. Very sad to hear.

I was going to use my following post to announce my retirement from the forum next week. In my own way I was planning to go out with a flourish, drop the microphone and exit stage left. In the spirit of the thread however it's probably much more appropriate to leave it here and dedicate it to Zarquon instead. Sometimes we need a reminder that what looks important to us is often quite trivial in the greater scheme of things.

For those of you who find things getting you down a little maybe have a read of Zarquon's post announcing his illness, which inspired FHFC to set up the Charity Champion's League in his honour.

http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=100603165&postcount=95

Hopefully the quiet dignity and courage with which he faced his inevitable fate will inspire you a little and help put things in perspective.
And if you are finding all of this a bit heavy then hopefully my few lines of nonsense will remind you that however seriously we all take this, it is just a game. I hope people don't find it inappropriate, it's just my way of saying goodbye.

Rest in peace Zarquon, worthy Premier League opponent, fellow Douglas Adams fan. You left us far too soon.

And now, the end is near
And so I face my final Gameweek
I’ve had the highs, the dreadful lows
Quite often in the very same week
Triple captain gone, my bench boost done
My AOA got me sweet FA
But Boards, much more than this
I did it my way

Bad player picks, I made a few
Payet on strike, not worth the trouble
Bony at Stoke, a total joke
Zaha’s three points in a double
Got trolled anew by Lukaku
Rage transferred out the very next day
For weeks I groaned, watching John Stones
But did it my way

One last morning, thank Scorpion Sting
Those price change pics, top class I reckoned
The lovely nun, vote number one
Shineon’s Mick gifs, they came close second
I laughed tee hee, at Mr P
For triple captaining PVA
I laughed real hard at Kev’s wild card
And did it my way

And so goodbye Clairewithani,
so long to busts, farewell ElTel
Iroced adieu, and Lemlin too
to CSF and swiper as well
FHFC no more I’ll see
And to Zarquon far too soon gone
Just one more day, then I’m away
To do it my way

I’ve seen them all from Suarez to Henri
From Spacecraft Experience to BUIB
Knocked out of cups by zombie teams
I’ve seen red arrows far more than greens
But I can proudly say
Boards FSA
I did it my way!

That's brilliant pal, I'm sure Zarquon would appreciate the levity.
It's funny that on an anonymous forum so many people make an impression on you and you know they're good lads, there's so many forums where people act the bollix, I have posted much less this year because of various circumstances but I won't be retiring and hope to come back next year with gusto.
I'm slightly heartbroken about Zarquon because I had hoped things might go differently and he was a gentleman. ar dheis de go raibh a h-anam

Very sad news. I've been a bit AWOL this year but hope to get back to normal for next season. Have barely watched football this year.

New job has had me very busy but I'm not travelling as much now since last month so things should calm down.

Good luck to everyone tomorrow. I didn't get to know Zarqoun and feel the lesser for it. It's only a game and things like this put everything in perspective.

Rip :(

Final transfers done and one last hit taken....wouldn't have felt right without the hit :-)

Alli --> Coutinho
Cedric --> Matip

Willy

Matip Alonso Bavies

Sane Pedro Sanchez Coutinho (C)

Giroud Jesus Kane

Subs: Pickford King Holding Yoshida

Went with strong bench just in case....may yet captain Kane.

Good luck to all....and RIP Zarquon :-(

• Registered Users Posts: 10,508 ✭✭✭✭dsmythy

Jak
Bertrand Fuchs
Sanchez Sane Coutinho King Albrighton
Kane Costa Jesus

Pickford Bailly Mawson Benalouane

Hull conceded most penalties in the league. Spurs awarded second most in the league. I'll settle with two Jak penalty saves but not from Kane....

Predicted mad games. Leicester Bournemouth 3-3. Chelsea 6-0 thumping of Sunderland.

RIP

Came into this thread to rant about how glad I am that the season is over, then saw the OP. Jesus, that puts things in perspective.

RIP Zarquon. :(

Caballero
Bavies Stephens Alonso
Hazard Sanchez Alli Sane Albrighton
Kane (c) Jesus

Hennessey Holding Gabby Bertrand

Still debating Coutinho in for someone. Is that the best first XI? Not convinced about benching Holding.

RIP Zarquon.

I've a feeling I'm going to need a quiet day from coutinho ...........
RIP Zarquon
Knew he was very sick at start of season but don't know this sad news :(

Picking defenders this week was like throwing darts at a board.

Pickford (lol)
Bavies Bertrand Kompany
Sanchez Coutinho Pedro King
Kane(c) Jesus Costa

RIP Zarqoun, you'll be missed.

King Coutinho Sanchez Sané
Kane (c) Benteke Jesus

Will hopefully win my league today. €150
Will donate winnings in Zarquon's honour if people would suggest where to. Didn't know him, don't remember him posting but if he is part of this family he is part of mine.
See Galway hospice mentioned...that will be place then.

Galway hospice was his request for the charity tournament this year. Great idea to donate some winnings, will do similar.

Thats very good of you.

I've gone from a 88 point deficit before GW36 to an 8 point lead now, so second-guessing everything and havent made a transfer in the vain hope some last minute news will guide me. But if Kane and Sanchez do the biz I should be safe, and Man City conceding would be fantastic.

RIP zarquon, and good luck to all on the final day, and to anyone with real-life troubles.

I'm currently just inside the 90,000 mark and it looks like this will end up being my worst season by some distance since 2010/11 apart from the anomaly that was 2013/14 where I had a triple figure score (ranks of circa 12,000, 23,000 (x2), 6,000).

Is there anything in particular you put it down to? I can't really find a reason for my poor season. I've spent as much time at the game as I usually did, posted here regularly for half a season before taking a break from the site (but I did keep reading), have been on FF Scout. I just never really got going for some reason.

Sitting on 12.5k so a big score needed to break the 10k:
Cech
Alonso Yoshida Davies
Coutinho Sanchez King Alli
Kane(c) Jesus Llorente

Rip Zarquon
