Of course its legal. Anyone can record anything in a public place.

Surprised the driver hasn't made more of a song and dance about it. I would have, disgraceful driving. (re getting out, without audio for all we know he could have apologized for his driving, however the fact the other vehicle reversed makes me think differently…..)

    Hysteria over very little

    looks very tame to me

the fact that all the other vids by that poster have sound and this doesnt is very suspicious

no charges brought by DPP reflect the non event

Heres a question, I noticed traffic blues a while ago that pretty much every member of the public had their face blurred. Is it a for-profit usage issue? Or just to save some potential legal hassle?

yeah its doin the rounds alright

lots of awful stuff being put up on it - amazing how people believe anything thats put down in black and white and/or uploaded to youtube

if there was a case to answer he would have been up in front of a court to answer for it

looks like dashcam man was peeved at rangrover man not being hung drawn and quartered

so hes gone on a campaign to publically defame and discredit the other man

Most of these dashcams have a second cam looking rearward. Where is this footage. Could it perhaps show the driver on the phone, or otherwise distracted?

have a look at his other vids - he loves to drive while on the phone/filming so id imagine hes guilty of it this time also

Driver of the car with video is a know danger on the roads around Nenagh. The man in video did not id him self as a GR, Garda or anything. He asked the driver to back up. That's all. If the audio catch anything wrong on it we would have heard it. Weird that all his other videos have audio.

DPP throw the case out. Sour grapes.

There is a pursuit on the below link.

Its a good pursuit, sadly one of the members involved is facing charges for colliding with the offending vehicle.

The matter is still before the victorian courts so if comments could be mindfull of that fact.

Then our misfortunate lads have to put up with an unbalanced court system on top of all that.

Saw an Ambulance being escorted by a biker paramedic, makes sense to have him clearing but never seen it before, is it SOP?

I've seen convoys like that before made up of multiple garda bikes and sometimes garda cars.

AFAIK its urgent transport for transplants etc

Garda escorts are common enough, such as when the Kinihans get shot like yesterday.

Never seen it with a Paramedic though.

Ah misread didn't know it was a paramedic. That is odd, wonder if they are trained for such duties?

It's more likely that the solo-response paramedic, and the dual-crew ambulance were just going to the same call. Solo response is used for many reasons, and one of those is to back-up a responding crew.

  • Registered Users Posts: 36,163 ✭✭✭✭ED E

Maybe, but he was definitely clearing junctions a la escort procedure rather than just a convoy.

I was watching Taken Down last night, and something was bugging me about one part involving the crime scene of a murder victim, but I couldn't figure out what it was. I looked back at it today, and finally figured it out.

The ambulance at the scene appears to be missing a back door - or are there models where the lift doubles up as the right-hand read door? I'm assuming it's a prop vehicle with removable doors to allow for particular shooting angles and they forgot to put it back on.

While we're at it, how are bodies removed from the scene - is it by private ambulance as depicted?

Tail lift is indeed the second door in many cases. Ambulance s are for the living, undertaker, mortuary services etc will remove a corpse.

This isn't really worth it's own thread, and its a bit random, and I am pretty sure I already know the answer, but feel the need to ask...

I was in Blacklion in Cavan today. Do the Gardai based here, ever cross the border?

I couldn't help but notice just how close to the border the Station is. On the opposite side of the border there's a town called Belcoo. A search of Google Maps tells me that the Gardai are 1min drive from Belcoo, and the PSNI are a 19min drive from Belcoo.

Is there any such thing as cross-border assistance here? Like if I live in Belcoo, and I'm being burgled, and I can see the Garda station out my window, can I ring them? Or if I ring the PSNI will they ask the Gardai to take a look whilst they head over? Do the Gardai in these areas pop over the border in any kind of unofficial 'good samaritan' capacity to assist when they know they're clearly much closer to an issue and the PSNI are miles away?

(and naturally, curious of the same question again, but in reverse, where the PSNI are based on the border but the Gardai are a distance away).

I drive along the border, both sides, at Louth/Cavan/Monaghan quite a bit. I see Garda cars out and about regularly, but can probably count on one hand the amount of times I've seen a Police car.

    It's not done.
When I was stationed on the border I used to get in ****loads of trouble for taking a 200m shortcut across the border on my way to the checkpoint or even crossing to the other side at the crossing to turn the car.
And you won't get the nordies within an asses roar of the South. Unless you have cleared it with DivHQ first. Even then their local HQ will double check.

Ah, interesting to hear. Was curious alright. I do remember hearing people moaning about a Police car using a road in the Republic that was about 500 meters long, but had a roundabout on it. They used it to turn around and someone managed to take a photo of it, cue the usual complaining and moaning.

Can you (or anyone else) shed some light on this? It's a document I found online:

    https://www.psni.police.uk/globalassets/advice--information/our-publications/disclosure-logs/2008/operational-policing/garda_entering_northern_ireland.pdf

Specifically interested in this, and wonder does it have any relevance to my original query (a crime like burglary or assault or whatever, taking place beside a PSNI/Garda station, but on the opposite side of the border, like in Blacklion:

Dealing specifically with the Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland relationship. Legislation exists which allows each jurisdiction the ability to treat and deal with a specific range of offences committed in the others jurisdiction as if it had occurred in their own. In Northern Ireland the legislation is the Criminal Law Act 1975 and in the Republic of Ireland, the Criminal law Jurisdiction Act 1976. A schedule within each piece of legislation outlines the offences to which this legislation applies.
