2009 Beer.. Safe to drink?

    I found a 25cl bottle of Green Duvel 7% abv in the back of a cool, dry press in my house.

    On the back, the code is "L11 2009"

    Now is 2009 the manufacture date or the Best Before date.

    And should it be drank in the vicinity of an A&E, just in case ?

    I Would say no as the beer would be nearly 8 years out of date and notting will make me risk drinking a 8 year old bottle of beer !!!!.

    I have seen a IPA turn inside the bottle that was 3 months out of date i would not like to know what this smells and even tastes like

    At 7% there's a chance it'll taste ok. Either way it won't do you any harm.

    The only thing it'll do is maybe not taste great. Drink away but have another beer to wash out your mouth if it doesn't taste good.

    Leffe Radieuse (red) 8.2% abv 2010
    Leffe 9 (blue) 9% 2010
    Trappist Rochefort 8 (green) 9.2% . 2013
    Trappist Rochefort 10 (blue) 11.3% 2014

    No pathogen known to medical science will survive in a solution of more than 2 or 3 per cent alcohol. It may not taste great but it won't harm you.

    They are all safe to drink (as much as any alcoholic drink is safe).

    Some might not taste great, some might have matured really nicely. The only way to tell is to taste them.

    Guys it is always a gamble with out of date products.
    I have found a box (12 bottles) last month while cleaning up grandma basement.

    Best before Jan 1998.

    Tried a sip. Will never do that mistake again.

    If the yeast that cause fermentation of sugars into alcohol can survive in it, you can sure that there are other pathogens that can also survive alcohol.

    Cryptosporidium would definitely survive alcohol (not that it should be in it to start with!) for an extended period of time.
